I think I'm in love with the barista that fills my coffee every morning. We've never talked before; I can just SEE it in his EYES. Trust me on this. I don't think I'll ever meet anyone else quite like him.

Should I try to let him know, or should I just make my coffee at home from now on?

ask him to go for lunch sometime. nothing complicated. you'll get your answer if you're direct. be prepared for it to go either way. if you don't confess undying love, even if he says "no", you can enjoy your coffee at the shop.

if he's not allowed to date you, I guess that's where it ends. if he is allowed to date you and if you don't want to have lunch with him, tell him he makes a good cup of coffee and see if he continues the conversation.

Should I say it seriously or like its a joke? It would be hard to say seriously since there are better coffee places and I could even make better coffee at home. Its just the way he does it. he makes it look good. its the whole experience.

coffee people are friendly to EVERYONE. it gets them good tips.

regardless, it never hurts to just ask someone out or pick up mild flirting.

Most baristas I've seen don't even have the time to stop for a second and exchange numbers with someone. Some have a little plate on the counter for tips etc. Maybe you could give him a generous tip and a bit of paper with your name & number on it.

I've been a barista and you get hit on a lot, I think everyone does because you're so visible and part of people's day. Before you ask him out or something just talk to him first, ask things like:
-How busy has it been in here this morning?
-How do you get the foam to come out perfect?
- What's the most annoying drink order anyone's ever given you?

Keep it about the job at first.

Work up to it, asking without saying anything else first isn't a good idea because he has no idea if he likes you or not.

This is what I said today when he handed me my coffee:
"You should quit your job so we can date. I think we were made for each other baby."
And I said it seriously. then everyone in earshot looked at me. then my barista laughed.
then everyone else laughed.
So I thought it was a success and left the store feeling confident.
What do you guys think I should do next?
