So yeah... As some of you may know, I got out of my first ever 'relationship' a little while ago and now I think I may actually have a date.
My question is... How do I know whether it's a date or not? Note: In Dutch, asking someone to go out can mean either just to hang out, or go on a date.

I started talking to her a week orso ago after not having really spoken to her in ages. I've known her since I was three years old and we were really good friends in primary school(she was into me during that time, apperantly). Now yesterday, I properly asked her out over fb(as in, want to go out to have a drink on monday at x place). Now I'm just not actually sure if this is a date or not, how do I figure that out, preferably beforehand? I guess when I'm actually there I might be able to figure it out but yeah, would prefer to know it beforehand and stuff!
Now as I said, this is my first 'date'. I've never been on a date before in my life, so I literally have zero experience, so any help would be appreciated :D!

Sorry if my story is really incoherant and all, but for some reason I'm having trouble forming thoughts in my brain atm,

Cheers,

Amon

You're the guy? Than pay for the date, because splitting the bill is a more a friendzone kind of thing. If you pay the bill you show her that you like her and want to impress her. But before that? I haven't got a clue, hehe. Good luck, and above all have fun!

i disagree with men being forced to pay, but for the first date, it atlast gets your foot in the door...id take her to a coffee place where her part will be under 5 dollars.

Yeah, someone adviced me that I should offer to pay, if she says she wants to split the bill, it's probably not a date. I don't mind paying, really, I don't think guys should be forced to pay but I'd feel like a twat if I had to let my girlfriend pay for everything

I say you go Dutch, pun intended. Anyway, you're the one who asked her out so it's you who should tell us whether it was intended to be a date.

well i dont think girls should pay for guys meals, but i see no problem with a girl paying for her own things..although if yo uwere her bf there is nothing wrong with treating her every now and then.

What time is the date? I'd start off by having a few drinks and LET HER DO THE TALKING. Just ask questions about her and stuff she might like to talk about. If the date is going good then you should suggest you guys go to dinner or somewhere else for drinks. And then continue on with the advice I said above. If she accepts your invitation than you know the date is going good.

Definately pay for the drinks and food too.. I'm assuming your the one that invited her out for the date not vice versa.

I DO actually intend it to be a date =P

The date's at 3 PM at a cafe place thingy, I guess going to dinner afterwards would actually be really cool. I do know about the talking thing, I know how much girls like talking about themselves :P. I ACTUALLY pay attention too, which they tend to like

Can't wait for monday now, really, I'm quite excited!

just go to it and have fun, the first date is usually supposed to be lighthearted anyway.

also, i seriously recommend you split the costs unless you explicitly invited her, gender equality and all that.

No offense but I honestly don't get why we should split the bill. I'd want to make her special by doing nice things for he, which includes paying for certain things. There is no gender equality and there will never be true gender equality and I don't understand why girls can't take their advantages while realising that men have plenty of disadvantages in life aswell.

TL;DR: gonna pay for her drinks unless she insists otherwise

I thought the one that asked, is the one that pays. I don't know much either.

Splitting the bill sends a very strong "friendship only" message.

Offering to pay is one way you can send a message your interested in dating.

Now if she offers, refuse at least once, if she insists, then it's ok.

Date went well, she seemed to be enjoying herself a lot. Looking into my eyes, laughing a lot, etc. She proposed that we do it again soon, so, yeah :)
