Really good song that.

I mean, check the lyrics:

Are you such a dreamer
To put the world to rights
I'll stay home forever
Where two and two always makes five

Which is pretty much appropriate.

Right, what was the topic again?

Ah yeah.

Get like her?

There are friends of mine I think that are deserving of a relationship but I'm sure there are women who are deserving of relationships but don't manage to find any luck in love.

I'm saying we need to realize the problem isn't with either sex but the way society has conditioned people, people in this generation are self absorbed with cheap reality TV and look for self fulfillment rather than committing themselves to be giving and selfless in relationship and that's where the problem is. It isn't no longer about the children, the family or maintaining a good home or reputation, it's about doing what you want even if that includes fatherless children and divorce.

So, everyone that gets a divorce doesn't care about their kids? They're simply selfishly looking for self-gratification?

I'm not even going to bother with that statement beyond suggesting you educate yourself.

Well that sucks. My parents divorced when I was young and it was very amicable. Everything was fine for me.
Anyways, bitterness is not an attractive quality. Neither is blame shifting.

My parents' divorce was the best thing that ever happened to me, personally. I was so proud of my mom for finally leaving that waste of space.

And have you perhaps thought of the sheer emotional damage 9 bad apples will cause? If you're eating 9 bad apples, you're gonna get ill from them.

If you're gonna get derogatory treatment from 9 guys out of 10, thats going to screw up your perception of yourself and everyone else, and warp your views on whats ok in relationships.

After a while it just becomes a cycle where the woman doesn't know whats right for her any more and accepts being treated as meat, because she's just so used to it. Even the strong-willed ones can give in to it, because its just "how things are done". If you're a woman and you socialise, some scumbag is going to grope or force himself on you at some point if you're considered even remotely attractive. Those people are out there, in more numbers than you may realise. While I may not be a woman myself, I've had enough female friends to give me the horror stories.

What can you do in those situations other than force him away? And how will that stop future incidences of unwanted attention? I think a lot of women simply learn to endure it because they need to socialise like everybody else, but unfortunately to "socialise well" (to not look odd) as a woman you need to put yourself out as an attractive person. And when the other gender has a group of people who have next to no respect for them, it can screw with minds. Can you imagine what its like to be constantly reminded that some people are happy to completely violate not only your personal space, but your dignity, purely for the sake of their own fulfillment?

And this is even before you consider relationships, where often those views continue to persist in a much more subtle manner, but really I'll be dragging this post on way too long if I go on with that. Suffice to say there are enough "a**holes that aren't quite complete a**holes" to slowly drag a girls feelings into a pit.

tl;dr- Misogyny is much more widespread than misandry. Men may suffer romantic neglect more, but thats not mistreatment, I'd hella choose that over the treatment a lot of women get from some of us. There are seriously slimy dudes out there.

You make out that women are all innocent angels that aren't capable of manipulating people, there are women out there who happily manipulate vulnerable people for their own fulfillment so it isn't just men who are manipulative.

Watch this show, it shows women who rinse money from guys for their own "fulfillment" or material gain.
http://www.channel4.com/programmes/sex- ... nsing-guys

There are women who will use men and emotionally manipulate them for their gain as well so don't just paint it like men are the ones responsible. Women always complain they can't find a nice guy and turn around to date the jerk, traits like "kindness, sensitivity, being caring or loving" don't appeal to them like Hale_Bopp said in the other thread, it's not about the "maybe husband" traits, it's about what turns them on.

Please point out where I said women can't be manipulative.

Believe it or not, I have actually watched that show. I'm more than aware that women can be superficial and callous. However, since you were trying to make an argument for all the "innocent men" having a terrible time of it, I thought I'd point out that there are two sides to this coin. Not all women aren't selfish whorebags, surprisingly. That show represents a tiny minority of the female population. There are countless other women out there. Some are nasty in different ways. The rest are interested in finding someone right for them. If thats not you, it doesn't make them heartless and evil. You're just not interesting to them.

Society tells people "women like nice guys". You act like a "nice guy". You find out its not true. Who's fault is it? Womens fault. They like jerks. Obviously. Bloody liars. Been there, done that, got the t-shirt. Watched everyone else get the t-shirt. Still watching others get the t-shirt.

Heres the thing. Proper a**holes do not maintain good relationships. A true jerk cannot keep a woman happy. They do not care about their other half. If the woman is actually happy, he's not a jerk. He's obviously living up to what she wants. Thats what a relationship is about, right? Doesn't matter what anybody else thinks of him. Call him a jerk all you like, he's certainly not acting like one. He may be a dick to you, personally, but you don't know how he treats her. She could be his everything. Is she more deserving of the man who makes her happy, or the man who can only try?

You can be attractive without being a jerk. And likewise, you can be a jerk and not be attractive. They're not symptomatic of each other. However, confidence in itself is an attraction factor, and its something that jerks have. It's also something some nice people have. Don't lump them in with the jerks.

Why are we still even discussing this "jerk/nice guy" dichotomy anyway? Its been debunked enough times...

These are some good points. This might explain why nearly half of births are out of wedlock today. People don't think about the children before they have the kids.

"But... think of the children!"

Such a tired argument. Why? Because the children are usually all a parent thinks about.

I was born out of wedlock and I couldn't disagree more with this statement.

When I look at normal people and the reasons they have children and then look at children born out of wedlock, the parents don't have the children for the right reasons.

I resent my parents for even having me for a number of reasons, I wouldn't be surprised if children who grow up that are born out of wedlock think deeply about it and feel the same way.

*usually* is the key word here. Certainly, there are selfish parents just as there are selfish people in any group. Your resentment is not, by any means, universally shared, whether the children were born outside of marriage or come from a family society otherwise deems 'broken'.

Nothing is so black and white.

I wish my parents had got divorced.

Staying together for the children is just stupid in my opinion, if the situation is intolerable or consistently unsatisfactory. However, all situations are different.

My attitude is marry when you are really, really sure that things will all be, generally, good. And even then, that's no guarantee.

What is black and white though: nothing positive comes from out of wedlock marriages as a statistic.

You might not agree with me that being born out of wedlock is a bad thing for the child, but you can't argue with numerous studies that have been done on a person's chances for living in poverty are much greater if they are born out of wedlock.
