There isn't a day that goes by without me having to think about this, especially now. It's hard for me to believe that I'm actually going to be twenty tomorrow, and I've still yet to know what an actual kiss is like...

For years, guys have always found me to be very weird: some of them would just tease me, laugh whenever I'd dropped something in the hallway, throw things at me, or just not pay any attention to me at all. Once, some guy even shunned me just for liking MLP and Pokemon, two things most girls my age probably wouldn't be interested in... This of course died down once I started college, but I still tend to be ignored.

I'm also not the most attractive either, so I tend to have securities about myself, and what others around me think... I've become a lot more self conscious about my body lately.

Currently, I've been having a mental battle with myself in trying to set my life around, but it's just really hard for me to get out of some of these compulsive behaviors... And the worst part of it is... I blame myself: I blame myself for the lack of happiness in my life, to points where I actually start crying... I'm just worried that guys would really be turned off by that, and some of my "childish" interests... I feel that the only way I'll be successful is by changing my lifestyle, so that way, I'll eventually be noticed.

But the point is, I really want a relationship... I want to actually have someone who's affectionate towards me, and treats me right. I want to have someone who's patient, and is willing to cope with me in times of anxiety and stress. I just want to have someone I can actually live for...

I feel really embarrassed about posting this here, but I just needed a place to vent. I've already talked to my mother about it, and she told me that she's going to take me in to see someone.

I'm also very wary about online dating, just because of a certain past experience I've had; I'm not saying that anyone on this forum is untrustworthy, but I'm just trying to do what I think is the best for me... I hope you understand.

If no guys are showing an interest in you try showing an interest in them... In a subtle way that is.

All those who can relate raise your hand! *raises hand*

Essentially I'm going thru the same thing right now, er, in terms of wanting a relationship. Until you find a person that you want, find ways to enjoy yourself, if you enjoy MLP, watch it! (I need to watch that, myself at some point.) If you enjoy Pokemon, play it! Be who you are, and be true to yourself, and NEVER let anyone, or anything compromise that. As far as being the most attractive person, yet again, be yourself. I have issues with self-security when it comes to how I look, as well, but no one can change how I look, aside from things that don't matter such as hair, piercings, etc.

And to quote a wonderful, wonderful thing that someone else said...

Quote:
be who you are and say what you feel, for those who matter don't mind, and those who mind don't matter.

I think it's cool that you're a unique person. We need people that are unique. If everyone was the same, then this world woudn't be as good of a place. Theres nothing wrong with having your own interests and opinions on things. People will always appreciate you if you're friendly towards them. If you're friendly and nice towards other, they're more likely to look past your flaws.

It isn't weird to not date. Most people think they have to date so early. I think most of the time, this delays them from understanding who they are. If you choose not to date, you get to focus on you. You get to know yourself without someone else cluttering up your vision. Once you get to know yourself better and you're okay with yourself then you're ready to date.

Looks can always be changed as well if you feel like something is wrong. Don't ask me how because i'm a guy. I recommend asking your mom on how you can make yourself better looking if you feel this is an issue.

I meant the teasing died down. I haven't given up yet on Pokemon.

I might try that.

Thanks!

I guess I've just been looking at this from a more logical point of view, which is something I tend to do a lot.

As to everyone else, thanks. I feel really stupid now.

Ahhh. Misread what you said. Pokemon is the worst thing to give up on. Period. ;p

That's OK. For years, women found me to be very weird and a lot still do.

I don't see any problem with MLP or Pokemon. Even a woman my age that was into MLP or Pokemon wouldn't be a problem for me.

I used to think that way too. It took a lot of time to get over it.

You're in college right? Check out some of the various geek groups there (D&D, Magic Cards, Anime, etc.) You're a geek girl who likes MLP. I'm sure there's a veritable buffet of socially awkward guys who'd be interested.

Ya it can be tough but just keep in mind the amount of s**t people go though trying to be in a relationship. Any good stuff you may see is usually just shown on the outside to hide the shitfest it usually is that early in life. Get though school focus on only that and once that giant hurdle is done you will have a much more stable life for relationships and hopefully more money to run around doing stuff.

I am 24 and still working on getting the school and stable career before I try.

The original 150 are the only ones that matter for Pokemon.

I think that anyone who wants a relationship needs to realise: you put more into it than you get out of it, even in the best and most balanced relationships possible.

extending that, BOTH parties have to put in 110% or else it just doesn't work.
