Why do people stay with partners who are jealous and insecure, and who dictate who they can or can't talk to?

Love.

Or they're just losers.

Or you have kids with them and think it will get better,it doesn't.

Or some people can't sort out there jealousy, envy, and hatred and these emotions end up consuming their lives. In middle school this girl who I wasn't even going out with but was kind of a semi-friend, but I kept my distance from her cause I could always tell she was coo-coo, got super pissed off at me, became incredibly jealous, and never talked to me again all after I told her "I think the new girl is cute." Can't remember what she exactly said, or yelled is more like it, but it contained the phrases "Mother-fucker!" "Traitor!" and "Get out of my sight you douche bag!" I really was quite traumatized and really sad by the end of the experience cause she ran away crying, I tried to comfort her but I think that only made things worse, cause when I went to say hi to her and see how she was doing there was not an utter from her lips. About a month later I moved to a new school and never saw her again. Anyways that's my experience with jealousy, I try to stay away from it and keep it unbiased, but hey we're all Human right?

People stay with jealous and posessive partners because they're insecure, because they're afraid to lose them or because they think that they don't deserve better.

It upsets me because I have lost two good friends because of their jealous partners.

I am afraid to have conversations with women who are in relationships, because I fear reprisals from their partners.

^^^Same here.I lost two friends because of that.Many women don't like their husband talking to a single woman. I would never flirt with a married man.I guess they were not very good friends if they think I would do something like that.

With one of those friends, the "boyfriend" was still legally married to someone else, thus making her the "other woman" in that case. But she puts up with it because he looks like Adam Levine from Maroon 5 (her celebrity crush).

Jealousy shouldn't be in a relationship, period... Learned that in Health.

Not everyone who is jealous dictates who someone can or can't talk to. They don't always argue or fight or get angry. I get jealous and I trust the people I care about to not hurt me. It's about trust I think that causes those things.

I guess I'll have to quit being a Christian and become a hipster to be with someone with the same interests.

Ha, I had no idea who Adam Levine was, but googling him up I can see the appeal.
