I'm 15, and a group of girls at our mosque (well, actually a Turkish cultural center) sing songs about religion, and I swore I would marry one of them when I was older. Now do I have to, if I can and one of them wants to? or can i marry whoever i want? explain?

That is a question for your Imam.

I think you would do well at this stage in your life to concentrate on your studies. You keep starting threads like this one, asking about people and relationships and circumstances about which we know nothing, and you seem to know even less.

No, it would not be fair to the young lady, nor would it be fair to you.

You can make a free choice regarding marriage. Please just take it medium step by medium step and try not to make definite plans too far in the future.

NO, you explain why you can't.

Okay...so in the fervor of the moment you thought to yourself "I swear to God I will marry one of those girls!"

That was a one way conversation you had with God. It wasnt a two way conversation in which the other party (God) entered into a contract with you.

you're still underage, so you must have been underage at the time.

So you were too young to enter into a legal contract anyway.

I dont see why God would hold you to a silly daydream thought you once had like that.

Will if you wanted to get technical about it, you are not older, and you are not married, so you haven't broken your promise about marrying one of them when you get older.

Who knows? Maybe you will.

Don't worry, they'll probably get married before you.

True that. My mom, god bless her, kept trying to set me up with girls saying, "if neither of you are married by this age, you guys have to marry each-other." Of course they married other guys within that time, and I've stayed single the whole time. Needless to say, we didn't keep our promises to marry, not that we were really serious about it.

Are they pretty? Are you attracted to them? Could you see yourself having sex with any of them? Do you share a physical or emotional connection?

Those are the questions you should be asking yourself.

No, just realistic, he's talking about religious girls, raised by religious families in a Middle Eastern culture. It would be miraculous if they remain single till age 21-22.
