Right now I've been thinking about this girl all day for 3 days and I often find myself wondering if I should even try to talk to her. She never knew me but I knew her and it's been 3 years since I saw her now. I always thought she was cool but was too shy to talk to her. Now I am just nervous about getting rejected. Since I'm a total stranger to her I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how I should contact her without looking like a creep. Other times i just lose hope and give up but I start thinking again after a while.

As far as how to talk to her I guess it is important to know the context in which you see each other (work, school, etc). I think you should talk to her if you can because maybe if she knew you she would like you. To talk to her you should find something you have in common. Or if you know her from work you could talk about something work related or somehow talk about something in reference to where you know her from.

I really don't understand how you can have feelings for someone you don't already KNOW...kind of really creeps me out, but that's a trigger for me and not your fault.

But I do highly recommend that you make friends with people before you even CONSIDER dating them. Don't be too pushy about making friends with her (as some Autistic people can do--not sure how good you are at that). But most people would be creeped out by being asked out by someone they barely know (maybe unless it's at a bar or somewhere where people are known to do that).

If you do, be careful not to become a "neckbeard".

You should probably be honest upfront rather than pretend to only want to be friends. Depends though.
