So it's been a month or 2 since I broke up with my ex, we were living together for 4 years. I'm still feeling really bad about it and I'm feeling depressed all the time and recently I've just started getting angry over little things for no reason and I've been having really bad trouble sleeping. At the moment I'm going 2 days without sleep and then going to bed, this has been happening for 2 weeks now.

I just want to stop thinking about her and the life I used to have I guess. Any little thing I do now reminds me of her and I end up feeling like ****. Even today I went shopping and just walking round the supermarket brings her up in my head, "Oh look that's what we used to cook together or hey that's the chocolate she likes!".

I just want to know how long it's going to take till I get over her and I stop feeling like this. My mum want's me to go to the doctors and get some help but I don't know if that will work, I've never taken pills in my life.

grief reactions take six months to two years generally. longer than two years is called complicated grief. when i broke up with my fiance because he hit me, it was about a year before i felt happy.
