For the past few years i have been in a relationship with an NT (who cannot stand light touch; i am the opposite).
However when it comes to compromising she refuses to do it.
For example if i suggest we live together as friends she takes it as a huge rejection and refuses.
I own my own home and just want to sleep alone sometimes in my bed by myself so i can sleep comfy with my pets.
Sleeping with another human is crowding to me. I like to sprawl my arms out and cannot. I like to sleep on my stomach with my arms bent at a 90 degree angle.
Pets laying on me is more helpful than not.
Yet if i was to suggest she take the other room she'd have a fit regardless of knowing how i feel.
I don't know what to do..

I'm sorry that no one has answered. I don't really know what the solution is here.

Do you know why she is upset that you only want to share as roommates rather than as a couple? Can you understand why she feels hurt by that?

Does she understand why you need space to sleep. Personally I can understand that, I can't even cope with pets on the bed. But you may just assume she understands and is only being stubborn, but she may genuinely not understand at all.

Talking it over is the only solution I can think of. You have to both find some sort of middle ground otherwise you may find that it is best to go your separate ways if you can't agree.

I hope it doesn't come to that and you do manage to work something out.

I have a question: does sleeping in separate rooms mean no sex? Basically, if you're having sex, I don't think it matters where each sleeps.

I too have to have an animal on my bed to sleep. Currently, it is my pitbull, Henry.
