Would you date someone who has the same name as one of your parents?

I never call my parents by their name so I don't see why it would matter.

Yes, I have done. It wasn't an issue. I call my father, Father, not John.

I would never want to date a woman named 'Mom'.

That would just be way too creepy!

I would if I was genuinely attracted to them and the circumstances allowed for it. If their name makes me uncomfortable I'll just refer to them by a nickname. Or their middle name. There are a few men about who act as though their middle name is their first name, and I don't think there is a rule preventing women from doing the same.

Her name wouldn't affect if I would date her.

I would date a girl with the same name as my mom because her name is a common one and I know a lot of girls of the name so it's not just hers. But I wouldn't date a guy with the same name as my dad. His name is just ugly(it supposed to mean "one who is famous because of his knowledge" but all abbreviations of his name sound like a "villager/pleasant" and even his regular name could be translated as "someone who is famous in the country-side" if one doesn't focus on the correct, "knowledge" meaning).
Almost noone names kids like that nowadays. All guys I know named like my dad are the same age as him or even older.

If someone is stupid enough to name a kid a "pleasant/villager/yokel" I can't help it.

My first crush's middle name was my father's first name (Frank), does that count?

So I take it you won't date women with kids.

Lol! Having children doesn't change your name!

If a date tried to call me "Mother" or "Mummy" I'd be out of there so fast! 8O

OH HELL NO

Confusion already reigns supreme because one cousin is named after another family member.

No, it would freak me out. By the same token, I wouldn't want to date or marry anyone, with the same name as a close relative.
