How can you initiate a conversation with two individuals that have Asperger's, but don't know how to start a small talk with them and not get so much detailed about themselves?

You really can't control what other people are going to say to you, or how they will say it.

There's a secret to it. Are you ready?

The secret is…

…take an active interest in the other person, including things they themselves are passionate about.

Get the other person talking about self-interests and they will never shut up. Allow them to chase whatever rabbits they want. Listen and pay CLOSE attention. Keep questions and comments directed towards those interests. Keep your own words few and they'll think you're the best conversationalist on the planet. Don't believe me? Give it a try and see what happens.

Oh, and don't even THINK about talking about yourself. If they act deeply interested in YOU, then anything goes. But until then, and even THEN, always throw the spotlight back onto the other person. Whatever it takes, KEEP THEM TALKING. That is the only way.

If you are also neurodiverse (Aspie), then it is easy. Just be yourself and go up to them and talk (if you like, or just be silent if that's easier). The rule of continuous conversation is not valid with neurodiverse people. If not, then it is trickier.
