Whenever I see a woman who is sad, I want to give her a hug and comfort her and cheer her up and when I do I feel good inside, that I did a good deed and made someone happy, is this normal?

I should certainly hope so.

Who cares if it's "normal?" It's just the right thing to do.

No, that's White Knight syndrome.

Would you do the same to a crying man?

I don't know whether it's normal. On the other hand, I'd expect to be considered a pervert if I acknowledged that desire, which is probably obvious anyway. More accurately, I almost always want to hug them, unless I know them and am cross with them.

I might. It's not out of the question.

Guys that cry, though, don't react too well to other guys coming up to them to comfort them.

I don't give a flipping flip if I'm a "White knight" in this instance.

Would you comfort Caitlyn Jenner if he/she were crying? That's the true litmus test.

Yes, unfortunately, and that's why I would never act on it unless I knew her very well.

Do you know the woman who is crying? How well do you know the woman who is crying? Do you know why the woman is crying?

If your answers aren't yes, pretty well (& that she'd say the same about you) and have some sort of clue... then, do not hug or approach her, because it's creepy to insert yourself into the life of a total/near stranger and it's unlikely to be appreciated.

It shows that you have empathy for others, which is a VERY GOOD THING. Yes, you should take that as a compliment. There's times when people need comfort when they're sad, so it's okay to give them a hug as long as they let you and they enjoy it. I bet you're a wonderful hugger. :D
