Relationships are hard... :(
I'm new to wrong planet, so let me introduce myself first.
I am a 31 year old woman with a 6 year old daughter. I work part time and have been in a relationship with a man for 3+ years.
I was 12 when I was diagnosed, and did the typical aspie thing observing NTs to "fit in". This has been a curse and a blessing. Everyone expects you to be "normal" when you appear as such. When they realise you're not normal, things become very difficult.
Like many of those on the spectrum, I'm not a hugger, physical contact is difficult for me and displaying affection is really hard.
My partner is a hugger, likes being close. You can see this causes some challenges.
He seems to think that because I don't display affection, I don't care or I don't love him. I do. I do love him and I do care.
It's getting to point where I feel this pressure to show my feelings physically, I can't!
I feel like does he even accept me? He's been there for me so much and is such a great boyfriend. But he expects more than I can give.
Now I feel I have to let him go. I can't change. This is me. He would be happier with someone else.
