I went to my adviser of one month she had put me forward for a job interview, and my advisor asked me do I need interview clothes, i said no iv got them and her response was "oh, have you got all that? do you know how to conduct yourself on an interview" i said yes, (he's pretty quiet) she then went on to say "well don't forget, shirt pants and shoes, make sure you cut you're nails make sure you do you're hair up all nice and that, make sure you get a shave" then she paused a bit and said "and make sure you put some aftershave on as well, for the girls make sure it's men's" then she burst out laughing (that's the part that made me think bad, like was she having a little giggle about 'men')she said it nicely but probably was thinking sinister, i was hurt about it, (i wasn't near clean shaven at the time of the appointment tbh) I just don't want the advisor to think sinister of me! She was normally very moody appointments before this but was using a nice tone of voice, I think of it as she was giving a Ming( me an ugly sod) a lecture, was I right to think that? It's just she's really pretty and I obviously don't want her thinking I'm a Ming:/ im a guy

Update : I did badly need a shave this appointment but was always near enough clean shaven at previous appointments

No.

She was saying that you need to look decent for the interview.

No, she wasn't calling you ugly or anything, she was just telling you how you need to present yourself at an interview. It's pretty common for people to have to shave before an interview, I just had an interview today myself and decided to shave off the slight beard I had before attending

From another of your threads you said you're 25 but look 21. Sounds like she was having a bit of a laugh at the fact that you appear to be more of a "boy" than a "man." It might not have been very polite of her to insult your masculinity like that, but it sounds like it was more of an age-appearance/masculinity dig than it was a comment about being ugly.

Don't take it personally. I know, hard. But, it doesn't matter what she thinks of your looks. What matters in this story is the impression you make on your interviewer and whether you have the skills/knowledge/experience to be of economic & monetary value to them while being a personality fit for their business.

As for youthful looks, some women may find you unattractive if they're attracted to big strong burly looking "men," while others may be turned off by those types and turned on by you. There are all kinds of aesthetic attractions out there. I'm a gay man and am not attracted to the same types of guys as most of my gay or female friends - who, in turn, have various types they're attracted to.

It's hard to tell without being there exactly what triggered the laughter. With the way you right the story, if she laughs right after saying "make sure it's mens" and you said she is an adviser so may know of other aspies, then it may have just triggered a memory of someone who had brought ladies perfume for an interview. I think what has been said already are possible answers, but it could also be that it wasn't even directed at you.
