I'm a freelance writer who often writes about autism/Asperger's. I've heard a bit about dating websites designed specifically for people on the spectrum and I'm interested in people's impressions of these sites. If you've visited any of these sites, what has your experience been like? What did you like/dislike about the site(s)? If you'd prefer, feel free to send me a private message (username Jen2779). Thanks!

I just joined up to the first one you mentioned out of curiosity, I didn't know any existed since the poorly functioning and ultimately doomed Aspieaffection. But at least every person on AA was real, they may have signed up years ago and their memberships expired but they were all real people - I remember talking to several people on there before it stopped working.

But this "Autismdatingservice" could not be any more fake and scammy. None of the members are actually aspies, they appear to be either fake profiles or lifted from some other site (which the company also operates no doubt).
Even with these fake/misplaced profiles, there are very very few people on there and the price for a functioning full membership is outrageous.

Remember that the excellent OKC is free! and has a great App. There is also Tinder, and if for some reason you wanted something basic and full of perverts/prostitutes, then there is also plentyoffish.

I tried spectrumdating now too, looks like a legitimate put together by and for aspies. Only problem is that there is a huge bug.

You have to fill in an enormous 10 page Autism questionnaire to get started, takes forever but I did it. But the site will not accept that I have completed and submitted the form.

I can cannot access any other part of the site now, be it the search, homepage or "contact us" - everything leads back to the 10 page questionnaire which claims to be incomplete, but isnt!

doesn't seem possible given the gender ratio on the spectrum combined with the ratio usual to dating sites

I tried one that I think was called aspergersdatingsite. It was not good. I think it was a scam as well. It would not even let me message anyone on there. Every girl I tried to send a message to it would tell me I was outside of her preference, but it would do that no matter what I put on my profile.

I agree, a general meet up or social networking site for people on the spectrum could be a better idea. Given the ratio of dating websites, I think it would be very difficult to maintain an active user base.

I tried afew & they were either full of bugs, full of fakes profiles or had an extremely high ratio of males to females.
