K was a new college graduate, my second junior programmer to train. K was average. Looks, family, intelligence, ability, average for junior programmer. But, she was there, like to flirt and sleep around. Her car spent the night in many parking lots. I was 26 and K was 28. We had fun for a while.
There were a few problems. I was the lead programmer, developing a suite of business analytic packages. Giving K special attention was rude to the other programmers and I am slow. Walking a path between want and reason is tough. I didn't get it right and her eyes went to a bigger prize. It hurt, any fool would have seen it coming and stepped away.
Years later, I discovered the boss gave K credit for the math package in the suite. Its kind of funny, she did not know the difference between a correlation and a standard deviation. Good thing I dodged that bullet.
Merry Christmas K
Edit: I moved the post to a more appropriate forum for the story
