How many people here have ever actually gotten into a relationship from a post made to one of the dating thread here?

That user Nick07 is the only major success case I've heard here, and he did not use the dating thread but made posts about how lonely he was and what he was looking for in a woman.

Kuraudo77 has met someone here, and I think she lives close enough to them to eventually meet them in the real world. Again, not because of the dating thread, but just posting in general.

I also remember of hearing one other success story of two other users, thought I forgot their names, but their thread appeared here not too long ago, I predict it would be on page 2 or 3 by now. Not sure if they used the dating thread or not.

Otherwise, NO, there's not much success for anyone anywhere on the internet, not just WP but online dating and online forums in general!

For online dating, I know Sweetleaf found success, Hopper, IvanAutlich (sorry if I spelled it wrong), and a few others, but still the minority.

I asked this same question myself in one of the dating threads 'Has anyone here found any sort of success at all in anyway? Anyone?"

It's really too bad that it's so hard...

...pfft, it sounded like complaining worked good for that one person, maybe I should do that, I'm great at that.

There's a couple of folks here who complain about being single a lot. It hasn't worked in their favour.

It did work for goofygoobers...

And, usually the men and women here who complain, are all very defeatist...

And I can think of several members off the top of my head that are not getting positive attention and if anything seem to be irritating people.

How exactly does one complain without sounding defeatist?

When I was single and struggling, I did plenty of complaining but I never had a defeatist attitude. Frustrated? check. Angry? check. I always listened to every bit of advice given to me. Some was good some not so good but I never once said that I was beyond hope or defeated, even though I sure felt like it at times.

I don't bother giving advice anymore because more often than not, the OP of a thread is not going to listen to me. Sometimes I think people here want to be miserable: it's the only way I can explain the bizarre behavior I see at times. For example, one person complained about how having a girlfriend and he had no job, no money, no interests and no desire to change any of that. I complained but at least I made (unsuccessful) attempts to increase my income and starting trying activities where females are present.

I always had the impression this forum was more just for discussing those topics not actually looking for relationships. But I think I have heard of some people here becoming couples that way so I guess it happens...but I imagine it would be less likely than a site more designed for dating.

I met someoe I dated on social networking site, myyearbook I think it was but since then they completely changed the site and the name.

Yeah, if you ask for advice you should definitely consider what people say. That sounds pretty much like "you are your own greatest enemy", I think there is a lot of of people get like that here, including myself at times honestly.

I'm sure everyone who has ever visited WP knows that based on how much she brags about it.

Yeah, I really didn't see how complaining would do much good other than make you come off as annoying. Unless it's more along the lines of "I have X issue, how do I fix it?".

Hm let me think......that's a solid no

The singles lists are long dead carcasses. I've never used them for good reason. Tried a friendship one on another forum a long time ago and someone responded to that a few years later when I was long gone.

Some people have formed relationships through on the forum

Nick07 and Witchscat are only people I know of that has an actual in person relationship with someone they met here

Goofygoobers has some kind of really long distance relationship with Auswolf
Kuraudo has a similar long distance relationship with BlondeAlien

I met one girl here last year but it lasted like one month and we also never met, so I wouldn't list myself among the people for whom it worked. Also I met her through a common WP friend.

I got a reply once on WP to one, however it was not clear if I was being catfished, as they didn't have any post, but had been on the board a number of years. However they were not dumb, and there was some substance. She was perusing qualification roughly in my field.

Anyway they were interested in HipHop, and a few other things, but seem to have no intellectual interests.

After a couple of messages, I asked if they were to have an enjoyable conversation about anything, what would they like for it to be about. I guess was doing that deliberately, half expecting them not to reply, and I was right.

On the subject of complaining. I think that it feels a little weird complaining about something personal on a public forum and I tend not to do that anymore because it's awkward and makes me look bad in a way. I do wish that I had someone to talk to about "love and romance" issues though, because I have a lot of negative emotions built up and nowhere to talk about them, especially regarding personal things rather than general issues. I'd really not talk to family about it either because that's also extremely awkward.

It can be hard to find the balance between being to emotionally changed and personal, and being vague and general with this sort of thing. Idk it probably is helpful to talk more about personal issues, this is a support forum mainly after all.

It seems though that the dating threads are just filled with a bunch of lonely males, and that almost none of the postings there actually do any good.

Sure it's easy for her but not every girl is blessed with her near perfect looks.

It's unfortunate she can't find a beau closer to home. After all, getting a partner visa is extremely difficult and costs about $15,000.
