How exactly does one complain without sounding defeatist?
When I was single and struggling, I did plenty of complaining but I never had a defeatist attitude. Frustrated? check. Angry? check. I always listened to every bit of advice given to me. Some was good some not so good but I never once said that I was beyond hope or defeated, even though I sure felt like it at times.
I don't bother giving advice anymore because more often than not, the OP of a thread is not going to listen to me. Sometimes I think people here want to be miserable: it's the only way I can explain the bizarre behavior I see at times. For example, one person complained about how having a girlfriend and he had no job, no money, no interests and no desire to change any of that. I complained but at least I made (unsuccessful) attempts to increase my income and starting trying activities where females are present.
Yeah, if you ask for advice you should definitely consider what people say. That sounds pretty much like "you are your own greatest enemy", I think there is a lot of of people get like that here, including myself at times honestly.

It did work for goofygoobers...
I'm sure everyone who has ever visited WP knows that based on how much she brags about it.

There's a couple of folks here who complain about being single a lot. It hasn't worked in their favour.
Yeah, I really didn't see how complaining would do much good other than make you come off as annoying. Unless it's more along the lines of "I have X issue, how do I fix it?".
