... with other auties/aspies.

... with people with mental health issues.

... with people with other issues.

"You and so-and-so should date. You can magically heal each other by sharing your issues." ...

It's happened to me a fair few times, and I still feel mad about it sometimes.

Does this happen to you?

I don't like to go on blind dates.

People just enjoy being matchmakers; it's fun for them.

What is it with people who think autistic people "belong together"!? It drives me mad!

Autism is not a lifestyle choice. I don't choose a partner because they are autistic. If I happen to find out later, that's another thing... but I don't specifically seek out autistic partners.

If you're getting that opinion from NTs then you have to understand NTs like everything to be uniform and the same, therefore, they think autistic people belong together because they are the "same" as other autistics. Pack instincts, hierarchy, yada, yada (gets repetitive repeating the same old "human behavior and institutions that cause it" spiel).

I've never had that happen. Then again, maybe less than a handful of people know that I fall on the spectrum, so it was never a point of contention when it came to who I associate with.

I have had my mother try to get me to befriend other people on the spectrum, based on nothing other than that single fact. s**t, trying to befriend someone else is hard enough, you think dating is going to be easier?
