I don't know where to go from now after I am done with my relationship from my ex. I do want to make sure I can get back into dating again, but how do I work on myself at all? How do I get a job and everything else in a year, even within a few months? I feel like I can't compete well, and that even the partners I can compete for aren't very high quality dating material.

What should I do?

And maybe don't look to compete just meet people and girls and see what kind of relationships develop...a lot of girls don't even like being 'competed' over. As for getting a job, figure out what skills you have and apply for jobs if you don't have much skills than start out with some entry level work somewhere.

You should try your best to get a job. That would not only help at dating, but also would increase both your income and self-esteem.

you do not sit in your room at one in the morning, looking through mementos of yours by the candlelight, crying. baggage is unattractive, but i'm sure you weren't too attached to her. that i can remember.

maybe figure out what skills you have, look for something that uses them and perhaps that can be a place where you'll find someone compatible with your interests. but don't be discouraged if you don't...as if there are tons of good jobs floating around...

also, shed the notion that people have objective, set levels of "dateability". that's unattractive too.
