I feel relieved but in a way it kinda sucked. But me and my ex-girlfriend are history and I'm free to expand and look for other women.

I guess I had 76 views but I must offended some people. I didn't really mean to. :(

I doubt it, there is was no question or topic, which is probably why they don't respond.

Anyway sorry to hear that, part of life. Take on the chin I guess.

Voyeurs.

I'm sorry you had to experience the difficulties that always go with a breakup.

Even when both people know something is over, it's still difficult to let go of something that has been comfortable, reliable, and routine for a period of time.

Do you have some sort of celebratory/compensatory plan for the weekend?
I think it's fairly typical for the recently single to indulge in something extravagant, to distract themselves from negative feelings, and the feeling of negative space/loss.

I was thinking about maybe having a male friend or cousin stay over at my house, but I don't think it would be this weekend. What are some other ideas though?

Breakups are a major market for ice-cream companies. Good idea to keep yourself occupied.

Anything you really wanted to do? I don't know what interests you.

I have no real interests yet except for coding (which is not a real social interest, and I'm still struggling through the "sucky coder" category, but I still love to code so far), I wish I did have a cool social interest.

Ok I'm a programmer, maybe I can help.

What area of coding are you attracted to? What problems would you be interested in solving. Or task made easier, or just something creative.

I think I remember you posting getting about stuck in some of the theory. I suggested pausing, and doing more of our own fun projects figuring things out as you go along.

You will probably not follow "best practices" all the time, how that doesn't matter especially as it just for yourself.

It would be invaluable experience.

^ I'm trying to focus my efforts on developing a website project. I figured that I should be focusing more on the practical when learning to code instead of too much syntax. Maybe a simple Javascript pong game inside a web browser? A simple browser calender?

This is really supposed to be the L&D forum, not the computer and programming forum. :D

Problem solving is absolutely legit distraction/recovery.

I'm also learning to code. When I get super stuck on something and need a break from it, or I want to try something fresh and different, I've been going through lists of interview whiteboard questions.

You are learning Javascript?
Have you ever tried out Code Combat?
It's a browser RPG that is designed to teach code and will start out *WAY* simpler than where you are if you start at level 1... I wanna say you can skip ahead after a couple tutorial levels though.
Anyway, it gets more challenging as levels progress - and has some kind of attached community and weekly-or-so tournaments, some of which result in job offers to work for them. I think that would be great fun actually.
Sorry some of that's vague.. I'm only peripherally picking up a bit of JS but I tried Code Combat and am still on their e-mail list :?

Otherwise, there's subreddits dedicated to daily code challenges of various levels, and discussions on stackexchange an other google-able places that list common whiteboard challenges by position and tech stack.
Which is what I've been doing.

(I previously made a thread but deleted it because I saw 70 views but no response, I regret that as a stupid decision)

One thing I want to improve is body language and verbal communication. That's what I always struggle with. I also struggle with retaining interest in people, little things like smiling etc. I can't smile. I can't ask for an understandable explanation as to how I could smile well. All my staff has told me is to "just smile" and it then becomes a dog chasing it's own tail problem. I want to get better with all this, but how?
