Is it normal to feel guilt after breaking up with someone?

yes of course it is :). Its not like you enjoy hurting peoples feeling but sometimes it is necessary for both of you. Felling guilty means you are a good person :)

I think you'd have to be a robot not to. Unless you were cheated on or some other such enormous infraction. It'd be pretty cold to walk away with a smile. Even colder to be walked away from smiling.

Anyone who's been in something serious that is now over has to take a look at their contributions to the decline of the relationship. If for nothing else to learn.

A lot of that i guess would depend on the length and closeness of the relationship too I suppose.

i've always been the breaker-upper and yes, there have been times where there has been guilt.

there was that one time i celebrated too, but, that's another story 8O

my point is, i think we go through a myriad of emotions after a split and guilt is just one of the things we feel. so yes, perfectly normal.

I felt bad when I broke up with my first boyfriend but not with my second one.

I felt pretty guilty when me & my 1st girlfriend mutually broke up because I felt like I should of been a better partner & done better to make the relationship work. I also felt guilty when my 2nd girlfriend broke up with me because I felt like I failed to meet her needs even thou it was a one-sided relationship & it was on her side.
