So, you all know that I love to play video games. Do you think guys would still like me if I didn't? I am super concerned that they will be banned. Don't get me wrong. I would still watch anime, read manga, write paranormal fiction, listen to all of the music I enjoy and exercise. I would still prefer my dates to be simple like hanging out at my house and watching Attack on Titan and Soul Eater or even something as simple as listening to lots of cool music and making something healthy to eat (no dedicating songs to me. That creeps me out).

I just feel like I would not be cool and interesting in a potential boyfriend's eyes.

If they don't like you if you don't play video games, it's their loss.

Going with the assumption that you mean video games, worry not. The media just likes to make a scapegoat out of video games. The worst that can happen is that the media keeps making a scapegoat out of them - which I'm inclined to believe they will until something new and arguably "worse" comes around.

Anyway, not every male on Planet Earth plays video games. You can trust me on that one. And if any guy was so superficial as to not date you just because you didn't play video games, they'd be doing a great disservice to themselves. You do seem a right decent woman.

It's stereotyped by society that women tend to be into vid games less than men so I imagine that most guys aren't really expecting to be in a relationship with a woman who's into em & if finding a women into them is that big a deal, they can look for other women.

Personally I prefer dating girls that do play video games since it's an easy common interest for me. As long as they're also willing to go out and do things as well.

As for banning video games, it's not going to happen. There is far too much money spent on them and we haven't had any legislature passed for them since the ESRB rating system.

Avid gamers might have a preference for a partner who is also a gamer, but not dating someone you would otherwise date on the basis that they don't play video games would be pretty silly. Having similar values, compatible personalities and physical attraction is generally much more important than having one particular interest in common. Having no common interests may make things a bit more difficult for some but it would be pretty rare for a couple or anyone for that matter to have completely identical hobbies and interests, so whether you do or don't continue to play video games will likely have very minimal impact on who would be interested in dating you.

Soccer moms and overzealous Bible Belters are usually the ones who call for that.

Zeromancer, if any guy thinks you aren't interesting for liking video games, they really need to come up in the world. I wish more women my age would take an interest in video games, especially the good ones. Instead, many of them prefer reading throwaway general fiction and romance novels as well as listening to sappy pop music. :(

It really depends on who you're dating.

To some degree almost everyone plays video games now.
It's a commonly accepted form of entertainment, though MMO's, and "kids games" like Mario and Pokemon do still forego stigmatisation.

I don't think you being a gamer will be an issue with almost anybody. If anything, you might clash on what types of games are "cool" and "not cool".

What if I couldn't play them? I'm really fearful that video games will get banned where I live. If they got banned then I'd be useless to potential boyfriends. I don't really have anything else to offer other than the fact that I could spend hours reading manga and that I'm really good at taking care of animals. I recently got rid of a lot of my clothes that I don't wear. One of the reasons I did is so when I get my snake in the future she won't have a bunch of clothes piled around her and if she escapes I can find her easily.

At this point in life I'd rather be at home and in my room listening to AFI and whatever else is on my playlists and color. Adult coloring books are really fun, I highly recommend them.

A guy should like you for you, hobbies and all. There are heaps of guys that like manga and anime. Guys are gonna like you.
you don't need to have everything in common with a guy. Say you find one that doesn't play video games and you do, i wouldn't rule it out as uncompatibility, it's ok to have different interests and hobbies.
