I'm curious about the dating site "geek 2 geek". It supposedly uses a matching system designed specifically by and about geeks.

Has anyone here tried this website?

I've heard it's mostly scammers, but I don't know for sure.

Since you're a chick, you'll probably have an easier time finding matches since dating sites tend to be sausage parties.

Male geeks are dime a dozen, whilst female geeks are ultra-rare. Men going on such a site would be a pathetic waste of time. For lady geeks, sure, you could easily find someone there. Or you could just go anywhere nerdy or geeky and pick any guy there of your liking, and he'll probably be single.

You mean “geeks 2 sausages”?

Finding a panda would be easier than finding a geek woman.

Even the mainstream dating apps are sausage fests (I proved once in a thread that OKc has at least ~10 male to 1 female actives).

Now imagine if it’s for geeks or aspies.

I'm not concerned with who's on there, it's that I'm too geeky.

I suggest just advertising your geekiness on any popular web site and see what sort of responses you get. You may be pleasantly surprised. If not, just ignore your emails.

I mean by this point I've spent ~18 years hacking. It's not the kinf of thing I can explain the same way as a Dungeons & Dragons habit.

I've never heard of it.

I'm checking it out right now, but it won't let me change my location or my search results to anything except Washington.

I do not live in Washington =| Washington is very far away.

It's a scam-website. Fell for it years ago after a recommendation from someone on this very forum. You get fake notifications from profiles who say they want to talk to you, and then when you message them - they never message back, even though they supposedly expressed interest.

Avoid like a plague of locusts chasing you down in the desert sun.

I tried it & I NEVER got any messages on there but I had NO luck on any other sites either. I think a woman would have a much easier time than I did cuz I have disabilities on top of my Aspegers & dorkyness. I'm not sure how many guys would be on it thou, since it's a lesser known site the OP may have to look outside her gnereal area if she lives in a less populated location.

I've heard of it. I don't entirely trust the more niche sites. I highly dislike Tinder and OKCupid, but most "regular" people who just want to date and find someone are populating them at least, not bots and scammers. I remember there used to be one for Aspies a long time ago, too.

I work for an IT company now and all the guys there my age are married. The rest are women, in their 40's or 50's, or someone's kid nephew.

I'd think geeky hobbies like Dungeons and Dragons that will introduce you to new groups might be more successful long-term, especially for women. I'm trying to have more of a social life in general, but I've got my fingers crossed that there's at least a few single guys.

Worst comes to worst, if you want to try a niche site for a few weeks or a few months... just ignore the bad stuff and don't cough up any money.

I still can't get the site to search outside of Washington, but from what I've seen, it does look like a lot of fake profiles.
Also, the site won't work at all unless you unblock a lot of Google's data harvesting scripts.
No thank you.

Everyone everywhere our age is married already, or at least busy raising children. The single ones are usually single for a good reason.

Most people at my work are older women (and they've certainly eyed me a few times), or they're girls who are straight out of highschool and/or working through college. Most of the older ones are crazy, or trashy, or downright dangerous. Not that I'm into older women, but it's just an observation.

The male:female ratio is a lot smaller than it used to be, for whatever reason.
