While i think a persons's voice forms a significant part of the (relatively) superficial layer of their attractiveness, I don't actually hear it being commented on very much, I was wondering if complementing someone on how pleasant their voice was would actually therefore be quite a strange thing to do?

I think positive comments are acceptable. I've heard people comment on voices before. Accents, too. When they are appealing.

I've complimented my wife on her voice numerous times. Her voice is soothing to me; it's not deep and it's not high pitched nor is it nasal or otherwise grating. I'm very sensitive to sounds and to be blunt, if a woman had a voice that was grating to me it would be a deal breaker. In fairness, if a woman told me that my voice was too hard for her to get used to I wouldn't be offended. If I'm excited about something I tend to talk loudly and my wife will tell me so.

My voice sounds wierd and it has since 13 and I am 36

Only a couple of times someone had the nerve to comment on my voice to my face

That I know of but maybe gossip

But I hate judgement and compliments are judgmental

Implicit to the compliment is, my opinion must be important to you because I am the latest greatest thing since sliced bread

But I am unusual in many ways and many precious lil "people" would want you to compliment their voices , or don't care

There are seven billion precious lil "people" in the solar system so whatever

s**t

I don't think it's that strange part of what made me attracted to my boyfriend is his voice, so to me does not seem like that weird of a thing to like about someone.

My family has commented on my accent changing since I moved to the other side of the country. They weren't complaining, it was just something interesting they noticed.

My girlfriend told me before that when she 1st heard my voice on the phone, it sounded like a country singer. No specific singer but country singers in general. No one else has ever said anything like that to me. I heard I had a deep voice a lot.

I edited to the one sentence because I need to ask, where do you get that? We are taught that it is socially appropriate to share compliments, that this will make other people feel better. THAT is why people give compliments. There is no ego involved in sharing a positive observation (you know it will make someone happy), although there can be ego involved in making a negative one (you know it will make someone unhappy but you share it anyway out of a belief they need to know).
