Many aspies and NT's too think the when someone says," Maybe you're reading into this too much or overthinking something" means that the situation is harmless or that you should stop worrying. The truth is that if you're really doing that, you need to extract yourself from a situation or a personal relationship. You're reading into it and overthinking because you can't understand that NOW is the time to leave. Save yourself. Because if you don't, the next thing you're going to hear is, "Do I have to spell it out for you?" or " Can't you read between the lines?" Toxic people don't need your kindness, good people need it. If you have to wonder whether a person is a friend or not, then they aren't.

Or maybe you actually are overcomplicating a simple issue?

You are always:. Overthinking, underthinking or correct

There is nothing so bad about "overthinking"

There is no correct amount of thinking

You can't measure the amount of thinking

When someone starts asking questions that begin with "Yeah, but..." or "What if..." after you've given them a simple and straightforward answer, then that person is overthinking it.

You don't need to know how a watch is built in order to know what time it is.
