I would think being in a real romantic relationship would put a complete stop to dreams about fictional characters

Do you think I am right with my thinking?

Thanks in advance!

I don't dream about fictional characters but why would it stop that?

I can dream about having a house while living in a different house, or about eating great food while I have other great food.

If your mind likes to imagine, it's likely not going to stop imo.

Your imagination is not hurting anyone so i don't think there is any reason to stop.

As for the question, it might stop or not. I have had friends that were in relationships but still were engaged in fandom, writing fics, making art and stuff. Though in that case they were imagining fictional characters with other fictional characters, not themselves. Although they might still be projecting parts of their personality to the characters so i am not sure about it

I think you're wrong with your thinking.
If anything, a real relationship means you can experience the physical side at the same time as having whatever fantasy you want.
And you don't have to tell anyone.
In fact it's better if you don't.

As others have said, your imagination is not hurting anyone. With that being said, from my personal experience, if my mind is stuck obsessing over one thing, it helps to talk to friends and do fun things with others, since this forces me to stop being stuck in my own head. If you have a real relationship, this will probably help you stop obsessing over fictional characters, but this is also not the only solution, since regular friendships will help too.
