Jamsey would love it.

And honestly? It is very common; I have encountered such standards; like rejecting me just because I am few months younger.

Just because you encountered it doesn’t mean that it is “very common.” Where do you meet these people? It seems likely that your confirmation bias would make them appear more common than they actually are. Of course, maybe we have different ideas regarding what “very common” means. I’ve only known one person who had what I thought were “delusional standards.”

Do you know for sure that she rejected you because you are a few months younger? Sometimes people give a reason that’s not the real one in order to spare feelings or because it’s easier depending on the situation.

^ Those are mostly from dating apps encounters…

- Not being taller enough, not only taller; many instances of that.
- Being younger even if only by few weeks and months: many instances of that occurred too.

I may understand the preferences of wanting taller and older; but being soooo specific on how much taller the guy *must* be or not tolerate even few months younger age, is really ridiculous.

I highly agree with the narrator of the video.

What about your own standards? I seem to recall various threads in the past that dealt with rating women’s bodies, etc. While engaging in unrelated research involving a vomit-spewing mammal, I came across a particularly interesting thread from 2016 in which a certain member said that he was WAY more attractive than a specific woman and that she should be happy that he was even giving her a chance.

It seems a bit like the superficial pot calling the superficial kettle black.

My standards are extremely realistic, to
the point I only consider women who approach me first for dating.
I don’t waste time otherwise.
At least this was the case in the last 5 years or so.

I don’t see what that has to do with it.

Due to my issues with shyness, I usually only consider people who approach me first, but it doesn’t change the specific things that are important to me - liberal, atheist, kind, funny, etc.

My only standards would be:
- Not too religious
- Not nutjob
- Not evil
- Not too older and not too younger
- As for the looks, as long she is prettier than me , which is so easy to pass.

I honestly don't know what people's standards are irl because it's not something I've discussed with many people. I know my elder son is very attracted to extremely smart young women. His partner of four years is a PhD candidate in Epidemiology at age 24. Prior to her, he dated a Master of Psychology (now practising), and a law student / now lawyer who works for the feds. Oh, his high-school sweetheart earned an MSc in Mechanical Engineering.

My own standards -
I just have to like you, which means you'd have to be humble and have integrity.
Liking the same music is a plus.
I don't actually care about brains and education.
Funny - yeah, that.
Fights for underdogs.

Looks don't generally matter.
Smell is high on the list - not cologne but natural pheromones.

Must have hands.

“Standards” might not be the right word, but these are things that I generally care about:

- atheist
- liberal
- humanist
- empathetic
- a great sense of humor
- around my age
- intelligent

So, another attempt at establishing how success in relationships can be determined by a checklist of attributes.
It's offensive and demeaning.

Do better.

Locked.
