I've been wondering lately about the compatibility of women and men in this day and age and maybe even since time began

I saw someone on here the other day who stated that they can't even talk to people of the opposite sex anymore and I think this is tragic to be honest and I totally get it as well

So it makes me wonder if the future for mixed gender relationships is sadly on the rocks

I mean I can sort of see a possible future at this point where men and women live separately and new people are kind of made through other means like frozen eggs and the like

What do you reckon

I'm not scientist btw and I'm doing my bestest to be wespectul

And also why do some people find it so difficult to communicate with people of the opposite sex

I don't know if it's always been like this so if it hasn't then what has changed

And what could make it better

A few hundred thousand years of evolution has overcome many obstacles; there's nothing special about this time period to indicate that M+F relationships are in trouble. Nor is it historically unique.

I think it's also too easy to focus on relationships in the UK/USA/the west generally, and with relation to ASDs "now", but it's not a global phenomenon.

Thus it ever has been. Also, with the same sex.

If radical Islam takes over the world, then yeah.

This is happening in Syria while we speak.

Oh I'm digging the snappy response
Thanks man

I was focusing on men and women though

Oh right wow

I read a book once where a traveler ended up in a land where this was almost the case

It was a fantasy novel but even so

This is extremely unlikely, IMO

Nice moderating man

I'm thinking it's not actually a bad thing to live separately in some ways

I don't know why it should cause any controversy or excitement

What is happening in Syria that you are referring to? I mean, specifically?

Other than new ex-Qaeda ruler is being glorified by the west (today Trump removed sanctions from Syria)? well just: killing Alawites, killing Druze, killing nightclub goers, porsecuting Christians, forcing sharia strict rules. https://www.newarab.com/news/gunmen-att ... -one-woman

Nothing much /s.

Oh that's an interesting twist

I never thought of things that way

It's weird how we in the western world don't see the reality

We just have opinions based on what news channel we subscribe to

Why would any of that mean that men and women have to live separately? :chin:

I'm both interested and fascinated at how this shifted from the original query to talk of Syria and Islam. If I didn't know better, I'd think my brother who converted to Catholicism had been in the general area.

To offer a note on the original topic however, two honestly because why not, unknown people in general can be odd to communicate with at times. If only for not wanting to provoke them or trying to figure out their mannerisms. The other positive note to share, in relation to male and female compatibility communication, is that my wife and I were often on the same thought-line to a concerning degree. We even jokingly called it a "psionic wink ;)" since one of us could finish what the other started.

I don't think relationships are getting harder to do, overall. It's a very complicated subject and there are all kinds of things that can make it harder or easier. I know they got rid of relationships in Brave New World and did test tube babies instead, but that was just the government's idea, and the reasons were more complicated than just trying to make people's lives easier. And it only happened in a novel.

It's an interesting topic. I don't see any reason why it should cause any fights to break out, except that there's no definitive answer so it can't be settled, and there are people in the world who love to argue the toss and don't like it when it's settled. I'm not saying the poster who talked about Islam taking over the world was trying to start a fight. I just don't understand what it's got to do with the topic. It seemed really weird to me.

Well someone had a kind and respectful word with me and explained that the topic is probably too non pc for this forum

It's the world we're living in mate

I could have this conversation in the big wide world and no one would even bat an eyelid because they would get from the way I speak that I mean no Ill will but online things just don't translate the same and also people like to assume intent as well and that makes me laugh

I'm not just on about this thread. This thread was dead before it even got a chance but I'm talking about a lot of stuff in general on line

Anyway that's what I'm saying

And now I'll get done for derailing my own thread

Which has happened before

That would be a rather dystopian future. Not being able to see relatives of the opposite gender, not being able to have friends of the opposite gender...I wouldn't want that. It'd certainly suck for m/f couples perfectly happy together.

'I finally found the one for me!'

'Yeah, Government says no, sorry, you'll be able to schedule reproduction in four years though if you join the waitlist now'
