I met a beautiful woman today

She is 38, but everyone was surprised as we all thought she looks younger.

But she was only visiting and I'll never see her again. Besides, a woman like her has better options than me. And I'm half a decade older than 38 anyway.

Why didn't you go for it anyway?

Again with the limiting beliefs...45 isn't that much older than 38!

Because we weren't a singles bar. The situation was not one in which that would've been appropriate.

I met another woman a few weeks ago. I thought she was around 60, but I found out she's 46. That's only 3 years older than me.

This never works, there’s no point.
This had been proven zillion of times that it is an old outdated and wrong approach by itself.

Are you just letting us know how your day went?....I met someone beautiful today, isn't that nice?

Are you saying you would want to go on a date with her? Was there some common interest or a spark when you spoke with each other?....So then, yes, why didn't you ask her to something low-key like 'would you like to get a coffee?' or some such?

Are you saying that the existence of a beautiful woman in proximity to you is a problem in some way?....If so, why?

Are you saying that you have no redeeming value because this apparently beautiful woman didn't immediately want to become your girlfriend?....That's the sense I'm getting as to what you're saying here, but it's so defeatist that I hope it's not true. Your identity as a human being has nothing to do with some random person being around you and not showing any personal interest. That's how most people are most of the time, everywhere. That's just normal.

If so-called leagues exist, how do we know that this specific woman would be against dating someone from a lower ranking league (not that I agree with that dehumanizing rhetoric)? I don’t think I would like people to make such assumptions about me - to assume that I was shallow or whatever people seem to think based solely on my appearance. It would seriously suck.

It just seems to be a limited and limiting perspective that could lead to erroneous assumptions and missed opportunities, not that I would want to be pursued unless I demonstrated some sort of interest, though.

It’s an oversimplification of a complex topic that contains a fair amount of nuance and diversity of thought. Even highly attractive people can be demisexual for instance. That’s just one possibility among many.

People can hit it off for any number of reasons, too. Sometimes sparks fly with someone who’s less attractive and not with someone who’s more stereotypically good-looking. It’s not like a woman is necessarily going to go with the hotter option, whatever that means, just because she has more options.

It’s really not that uncommon for people to date someone who’s more or less conventionally attractive than themselves, either, not that there aren’t different ways people can be attractive and individual variation when it comes to preferences.

I don’t even understand what the focus on appearance is all about. It’s not like it makes any difference in how someone will treat you. Then again, we can like what we like… There’s nothing wrong with that…within reason.

When you asked: “Why people here keep denying it?” I thought you wanted some feedback about leagues. I have even more I could provide if you are interested.

It’s also a generalization that beautiful women always have a lot of options. It’s not common sense at all when one considers how different women can be and the unique circumstances they might find themselves in.

I’m not sure if hard and fast rules are a good idea when it comes to this stuff. Since everyone is different, what’s right in a given situation may vary. Introverts, people who are shy or who otherwise struggle with social anxiety, or who come from a culture with specific gendered expectations when it comes to dating won’t necessarily approach first. That doesn’t mean they won’t make it clear they’re interested, though. I certainly wouldn’t advocate for a cold approach! I’m just saying that some flexibility is a good thing IMO.
