Hmm difficult question... but I think having the one great quality girlfriend that is all your best friends put together... plus being attracted to them... much better than normal friends.

But just having a girlfriend vs. my friends... I'd take my friends any day.

If I found someone perfect, I could move away from all my friends... maybe.

Definitely a few good friends. Girlfriends can lose interest and break up with you any moment they feel like it (happened to me twice), but good friends often stay your friends for life. Also, a relationship can have sh*tloads of drama, while friendships have very little drama, if at all. Sure, some people might bring up the issue of sex, but that can be purchased from an escort.

I have never had a girlfriend, but I have had a few good friends for many years. Seeing the results of my attempts to get a girlfriend, I'd much rather keep my friends.

GF wins, no doubt about it. Too bad she doesn't exist yet.

Personally the natural order is friends first don't try to run before you can walk. I have a couple of friends now. That was a big achievement now I got to focus on the girlfriend.

If you can see any good in anyone to be friends with then what does that mean for girlfriend it is just and arbitrary exercise.

One or two REALLY close friends,
preferably female sexual partners
(not to mention intelligent and willing
to wargame).

That too. No, I'm a wargamer, and really need a core
to build a group around.

Friends unless the girlfriend shares alot of your obsessions. Though in college I was shocked to find other chemistry majors did not talk about chemistry in their free time like I did/wanted. :(

Well...friends are far safer usually and probably less complicated.

I'd prefer a girlfriend, but only if she was a good girlfriend--a keeper, you know? Someone I loved, who loved me back, and not one of those short-lived romances, but genuine, long-lasting love.

Then again, there is a saying "bro's before your ho's." But I'm not one to call my girlfriend a "ho."

Having a few good friends wins hands down over having a significant other. Wish I'd realized that a long time ago; I would have saved myself a lot of pain.

I think I'd get along better with girls anyway. I seem to have slightly more feminine interests and tastes. I don't really do a whole lot of "guy" stuff, anways. I think ideally I would have a combination girlfriend/best friend in one person.

But to have a girlfriend, you have to be friends with that person first.
