There's not a big difference between 18 years old and 21, or 35 and 38. But there is a huge difference between 13 and 16.
Why? 21 - 18 = 3. 38 - 35 = 3. 16 - 13 = 3 (In my case, 1
5 - 13 =
2).
It isn't as simple as a single number. 3 years difference for a 21 year old and an 18 year old, that's 1/7th and 1/6th respectively. 38 year old and 35 year old, even smaller portion. Around 1/12 of their entire lives. The younger you get, the larger the difference means, because it is a much larger percentage of how long you've been alive. Two years is not that long to someone that is 80 years old, but it is a lifetime to a two year old.
It goes beyond just that, for overly simplistic number crunching leaves out a
lot, no matter how many manipulations are done, and reducing a span of someone's life to a number isn't the best way to go about things. That is just one way to "see" a difference.
People here aren't trying to spoil your fun, they're trying to make you think about it in different ways. If your mother wants you to talk with her about things, then that would be the best person to talk with. She knows both of you better than anyone here could, and she would be more capable to give you guidance on this sort of thing.
