I am referring of course to that hideous monstrosity they call "valentines day". It's already at the point where I can't go through a day without hearing "Every kiss begins with Kay"...

Valentines day is the only day on record where I faked an illness to get out of school (sophomore year of high school)... Everyone is all like "omg I have a valentine" and the public displays of affection are WAY TOO ANNOYING! All the other days of the year, if people do such things, they are usually laughed at, which is a perfectly fine way to carry on in life (If you really love him/her, you won't care that some a**hole is making fun of you from a distance, so everyone wins.) However, on Valentines day, not only do I not have a woman to share it with, I'm also laughed at (not that I'm not laughed at all the other days of the year, but I get laughed at more because of it...)

I hear ya, I have really never had a valanetines in all my 25 years. I have a so called 'girlfriend' but thats not even a true relationship just a friendship with an old elementary school friend.

I do feel often hopeless as far as love goes on this day, it is a sad day for me and others, and a day of anger for even others.

I don't have too much of a problem. I kind of ignore most parts of the holiday... this does not bode well for my future girl friend...

When I start thinking about most holidays I get really annoyed at the expected mentality many have about it. So I tend to think about other things. There are worse things in the world, like wet socks...

Haha! I was going to post a thread called something like, "Screw Valentine's Day" or "Cupid Can Kiss my A$$", but I guess I can express my hate for Valentine's Day here. I FREAKING HATE VALENTINE'S DAY!! !

I just wish my family and friends would quit bugging me about how I NEED to find a girlfriend. Valentines Day is kinda like an extension of that. It's not that I wouldn't like to have one, its just that I wouldn't feel so depressed about it if there wasn't so much pressure about it. Valentines Day blows.

Finally, I am among friends on this topic...

Every time I bring up something like this elsewhere, I just get made fun of a little more...

I hate Valentines Day as well. I'm just happy that I've convinced my family and friends to 'back off". They now accept me as having AS, and no longer pressure me to find a girlfriend. It's still depressing though, being alone and all, :( but I've learned to deal with it, for now.

Oh I know all about these commercialized "holy" days you speak of... Christmas is the biggest one from a consumer perspective, followed by Halloween, but Valentine's day has the distinction of Love(tm)... which is the worst possible perversion of one of the best things that ever existed...

and yes, it is stupid, but the NT's running our country are blind to it...

I tell people I don't celebrate Valentine's (Valentime's for some people) Day because women put too much meaning into it. Plus it's too hard to get her to leave after we're done. That usually shuts people up.

Valentine's Day is overrated, but it doesn't hurt to contribute.

I always liked it, even on years when I haven't had anybody special. It was nice to feel remembered by friends. At school we would all exchange little things. Physical tokens of affection are not bad, especially when they are small and freely given.

As much as I have come to no intellectual grasp of women and Valentine's Day, I have learned this:

a. Ignore it, and there will be HELL to pay.

b. Give her some flowers, and get wonderful sex.

So, I think that I will go with option B. Just keep it as a simple cause-and-effect, and I will get through it okay.

A part of what women do is talk to each about what their husbands got them for Valentine's Day. Just be damned sure that she has something to talk about.

What about those of us who have no woman (and aren't around any single women)?

This kind of reminders wear me down. Being alone would be less of a problem without birthdays, Christmas, etc. . .

It's the constant feeling of having done something wrong - of undergoing some sort of punishment. In primary school I was often forced to stand outside of the classroom as punishment - it's like I remained there for life.
