So I am in a group at uni and there is a girl I like.
Not another one of these stories!
During one of our group meetings she asked the group (6 members, i am the only male) if anyone wanted to join her for lunch to which I replied no thanks I have already had mine. (It was an egg and bacon roll and it was gooood). She left to have lunch on her own.
When I told my NT friends they replied with a "DUDE WTF" who cares if you have had lunch, have another!
So a week and a bit later I decided to do what she did..... I had lunch on my own that day.
I think I messed up my chances with her so need some cheering up.
Being a community FULL of people who are not social geniusess I would like to know that I am not the only one who could miss an opportunity like this.
So share your stories and make me realise that this happens to more people then just me! *Fingers Crossed*

You know you could have joined her just to keep her company and not have needed another lunch?
Hasn't happened to me yet but I'd probably do the same if I was in your scenario... of course with a different sandwich...

I would have missed that too, if that makes you feel any better. I miss all hints and suggestion. Unless people ask me direct and obvious questions for example 'Would you like to go on a date on Saturday' or 'Would you like to have sex with me this evening?' I will not know what they want. Of course people never ask questions like that. I've realised there is a secret language when it comes to dating and sex that I just can't understand.

I don't know if you are on a meal plan or something, but if you are to where it didn't cost you more I don't see why you didn't go? But I am always hungry anyway

You could have gone, kept her company and said that you had already eaten but perhaps have had a dessert, a coffee or an orange juice instead?

If she still likes you, then let it be known that you reciprocate. And don't feck it up again. :D

Good luck.

Next time something similar happens join whoever is asking. Say that you´ve had lunch already and you are just going to have a coffee/drink/whatever.

I wouldn´t have spotted it. I do not see those social cues. This have sometimes let me into situations where I thought I had a very interesting conversatoin with a nice guy. Suddently it turns out he is interested in me - where the h... did that come from? I mean, we were talking about something technical, fish, clearcutting of rainforest, fishing, insert your own interest here.

Sorry, I know this is the other way round, compared to your problem. But it is still tricky to get out of a situation like that. I haven´t found a polite way out, mostly I just hurry off (which is annoying, for sometimes I would have liked to hang around with the other people around).

I would have and probably did do that so your definitely not alone. I don't think I figured out social cues until late twenties or even mid thirties.

Yep, it's fun when you're clueless. One time I was with my friend (who was the cashier) of a convenience store. It was like 10:30 at night. There was a carnival in town, this girl comes in and starts talking to me and I'm just thinking "why is she talking to me?" She asked if a Jeep out there was mine, I told her it wasn't, because it wasn't. She asked if there was anything fun around here to do, to which I quite idiotically replied "Nope, I don't do much fun stuff." (Man I'm smooth when I'm unscripted, no?) I told her I ice skate, but that it was closed. She then gave me her number and asked if I had Facebook, which I didn't.

My friend who was the cashier was like "You idiot, she was trying to ask you out." She was nice looking, too, oh well. C'est la vie.

Man it sucks being as smooth as I am.

You just made my morning so much more happy/fun, thank you.

Please do notice, that I laugh with you. I could have made something similar (just the other way round).

One time in college, I was making out with this girl, and then she asked me if there was anything else I'd like to do tonight... I didn't realize what she meant, so I just said let's call it a night. When I got back to my dorm, I saw her facebook status: "Sleeping alone, I guess." :x [facepalm]

Haha, I can so relate to all this, I can miss out on clues that anyone would call a punch in the face (this might sound made up, but it's the honest truth it happened) a girl was standing infront of me in only a t-shirt (it was a fairly long t-shirt, with her panties in her hand and then she tossed them on the chair next to me an I couldn't for my life figure out what was going on, I guess it was because I didn't run after her to the bed, she got out and got her pants back on. Later that evening we took the bus over to my place, a very nice dark secluded part of the bus was ours and after same time making erhm... a bit of oral contact, she said she had always wanted to have sex on a bus, to which I instantly responed "Then you better make sure it's one of these, the newer ones have cameras." And didn't think anything more of it, I can't help but laugh everytime I think of that night, because it didn't end there.
When we got over to my place, she followed me up, and I was thinking of different places for her to sleep, and so I showed her to my room 'cause I figuered she might want to talk (it had not been an all out pleasent night, some conflict between her and another had made her a bit upset) and need a bit of comforting before she went to sleep (we always have a guest bed on standby) and preoccupied with these thoughts I barely even notice her taking off her clothes and was like "what's she doin..." at this point she was naked on my bed, and not even I could miss that one.

Sometimes I miss her, and I never miss anyone, she was always so unexpected in her actions, but always managed to get me in a good mood. I just hope she's happy and I didn't hurt her too much. :?
