I have been wondering if in part the reason I am having so much trouble meeting women is that there is a shortage of women. Oftentimes when I go somewhere, I see more guys within my age range than women; for example, at the park Friday evening, there were plenty of guys running on the trail but few women (although on a previous trip to the park, there were actually tons and tons of women). When I go to the gym, it's almost always many more guys than girls. At a bookstore, well, there just aren't many people in my age range there at all. Since I perpetually see so few women in my age range, I can only conclude that there aren't very many (relative to guys).

Well, I have noticed that a number of women, for whatever reason, marry BELOW what they could. That means that it is almost first come first served. So the fact that this country is just barely over 50% female, doesn't bode well for me because my ethics narrow it down SUBSTANTIALLY, my desire narrows it down MORE, and then AS, which probably plays a part in the other two, limits it even MORE, and I am left with few people, and it seems like nearly all are ALREADY married! It is a pity, because some of them have had horrible lives that they would NOT have had with me.

Oh well...

Give us some examples of how horrible their lives are, and how things would be different with you. I know women sometimes complain about how the bad boys they're with put on the macho act too much, but that is the behavior they reward with their company. Some women will even marry someone who runs dogs over, gets drunk and breaks up the furniture. How credible are their claims that their situation is really so bad if they won't leave it? I listen to what people say, but I believe what I see them do.

there's probably good reasons you don't see women running in the park in the evening. Gyms attract a few, but not enough to form a comparison.

I know it's cliche`, but have you tried the malls, stores, religious institutions, etc? Ask yourself; "where do women like to go?" There you'll find them...

Here's the thing that rarely gets mentioned when people quote the statistics that women slightly outnumber men: this is an average over women of all ages, and is heavily skewed by elderly widows who have outlived their husbands. Take away that factor, and men do outnumber women, especially in the 20's -30's age group.

The gender ratio depends on where you live and also what places you are going to. Of course there will be more men than women at the gym. Men are more obsessed with having muscles than women aside from some lesbians. You got it all wrong if you are trying to meet women at a gym. The few straight women that go to gyms often go to female-only gyms like Curves.

The last I heard there was more women than men in the US. Young co-workers told me the University campus is now 70% female students. Perhaps the women also aren't at the gym because they are busy going to college and working to support themselves, thus no free time. However over 50% of the US female population is said to be single now according to some study I heard on tv last year. So it doesn't matter how many women there are if they aren't interested in a relationship.

By chance do you go to a technical or engineering school? I was just thinking of all my young 20's neighbors and co-workers and hardly any of the guys go to college so I believe what my female co-worker said, at least for this town.

Yeah, I was under the impression you were from the City of St. Louis or somewhere else with a similarly urban character, or maybe I'm thinking of someone else.

P.S.: A few good aspies in the St. Louis area are trying to run a meet-up group that meets once a month and has additional activities and events (movies, nature hikes, picnics in the park) for members (no dues). PM me if you're interested.
