The neighbors are having a huge party in the courtyard. I know how to crash these things graciously; I've done it tonnes, in various settings, wherever I've lived.

What I'd like right now, though, is something quieter. Company yes.

Today I've been on self-imposed house arrest, aside from an early-AM walk through a cemetery, b/c the NTincompoop is in town and I'd answered his "coffee?" e-mail saying it was geographically not feasible, maybe another time. It's past 8 PM now and I'm willing to gamble he's cleared out, so I don't have to don a wig.

Am not in a hunting mood and it'll be fine if I spend a quiet evening reading in a cafe somewhere alone. Strangely feel like I could pull on jeans and go out w/o makeup and still have a non-zero chance of getting mild physical contact. (I'm talking the kind where you're sitting next to each other and shoulders might touch. Yep so call me hard up.)

This is boring. Which means it can be pepped up by placing bets on whether/what I pull. Posting this will inspire me to get up and actually put jeans on, comb hair etc, so I can check back and hope lots of people have already bet against me. Or something. Main point is getting OFF-line and in motion.

It's getting so loud out there, I'm getting nauseated. The windows have to stay open - A/C is the exception here, and I'm no exception.

Instead of continuing to post here as procrastination, I folded laundry and even put most of it away.

Am dressed except cardigan and maybe putting on some lip gloss. Got to find some reading materal; I think the kiosks that sell The Economist are closed by now. Not sure where to go, either - the place I had in mind is quiet during the week, but probably packed on a weekend.

OK someone bet against me - some playful opposition here will shield me from thinking about the real opposition out there.

Alaspi's ahead!

You're betting against me getting any comfort company tonight. Or something like that, I don't really know how bets work, but I use them a lot for tricking myself into understanding that social risks are games.

Latest procrastination move: transferring photos of cemetery from mobile phone internal storage to external storage then to computer. It's a primitive telephone.

OK now I'm going to upload some clips of pranks from the Scott Mills radio show. That way I can sit and laugh into my reading like a fool. For reading I found some photography salesy magazines/prospects a shopkeeper gave me a few weeks ago, and T. S. Eliot's Four Quartets.

I figured out what the party is - high school completion. It ends later here than in the U.S. While wandering around the cemetery this A.M. I heard on the news that last night at one of these parties, a kid said he was going to kill himself. Early this morning I guess, he threw himself in front of a train. Wonder why nobody asked him what he meant.

So I guess I can wish these kids well - and now I know for sure it makes sense to get out of here until 2 A.M. or so.

OK now I'm really going. These kids can't be cool b/c they're playing only music I recognize.

Have been reading a blog where each entry lists what music the blogger was listening to, or something. I've heard of maybe one song in 20. Glad for YouTube. Always like to be exposed to new sounds. NOT old sounds coming out of sound systems that attain new heights of horrible.

going OUT, not going to the kids' party! whaddya think, I'm scammin' young'ns?

one foot after the other, out the door, lock the door, and my feet will take me to someplace other than here. omgourd, another song - who put this music together, their parents?

now there's a group of people practicing choir music somewhere. warped juxtaposition. it's almost dark though, I can skulk about in good conscience.

*gives suspicious eye* are you scammin' young'ns?

now i am freakishly curious about what music is being played...and don't even think about taking another step. my life-savings are on the line. (two tootsiepops and a roll of plastic wrap)
