[quote]The truest love is in a lizards eyes.

That is interesting, I wish I could connect with a reptile. To me, their eyes seem hollow. But I love when I can see a flash of hope in an animal's eye and I did see that a few time with lizards.

I wouldn't leave my pets behind either.

Cool story! I had no idea a law had been passed saying animals can be evacuated too. It's too bad it took Katrina for that to happen.

I Wuvs my Jinxie kitty. Especially the way he gives me "love bites" to tell me to pet him.

I wouldn't leave my pets behind, I would run into a burning house to save them.

Well...

I may be pretty damn unhappy about being a 27 year old who's never had a girlfriend, but if I had a cat(s) and/or a dog(s), I wouldn't give them up to be with someone.

I strongly, strongly want to get a dog, but I can't until I'm more secure in where I'm working and living.

If you are willing to leave behind your pet than you have no right in getting a pet in the first place

If I had to evacuate (hypothetically) to save my life and leave Chloe (6 year old cat) behind, I would but I would hate it. Wikipedia says I am six miles south from Washington (possibly the Washington Monument). I do not know if that is suitcase nuke range or not- I do not know what kind of yields that would be.... maybe like a two kiloton Davey Crockett. ABC Primetime says you could survive six miles out but you would have to get out of the way of the fallout- check wind direction. Authorities might just as well say stay home and put plastic sheets and duct tape on the doors and windows, too. (Windows face west and east, first concern would be shattered glass from blast wave.)

I do have a car, but I am thinking 395/95 south and US Route 1 are going to be parking lots after a nuke goes off.

It's great that they're letting people evacuate with pets now. Making someone leave their pet behind in a flood...that's just so cruel to the pet AND the person.
