A card and chocolates is too... generic. IMHO. Try to think about what he likes. For example, my boyfriend likes Doctor Who, Transformers, various bands, etc, so I try to get him gifts related to those interests, as that shows him that I was actually thinking about him and what he would like, rather than just getting him something random just for the sake of giving him something.
His birthday is just before Valentines day, so I've been focusing on his Birthday mostly (which I think I'm finally done shopping for) as far as buying gifts. I did get him this weird book about Zombies already, which I'm saving for Valentine's day, because in my messed up mind, that's more appropriate for Valentine's day. lol
Last Valentine's day, I had just started dating some other guy like less than a week before Valentine's day, so I just got him the old standby chocolates, cheap-o stuffed animal, and a card, and only because he said he got me something. Since we had only just started dating, I didn't really care. But my boyfriend I'm with now, we've been together since April, and I actually love him, so I want to show him that I actually care enough to think about what he would like.
Well i bought him everything he wanted n liked on christmas and his birthday as they were both near each other , thats why i thought chocolates
