My wife and I -- already recognized as married by our family, friends, acquaintances, and all strangers who see our wedding bands which we've being wearing for months -- will be actually legally recognized by the government next Saturday! It will be just the two of us and the minister, and that's exactly the way we want it. That way, we don't have to focus on putting on an NT-friendly show for everyone else; instead, we will be able to fully focus on each other. :D

If I may ask: How long have you been 'unlegally' married and how come you didn't do this right away?

Well, we've been "unlegally" married since April 13, 2008, when we signed a little handwritten marriage declaration.
We waited a long time because her father wanted a large, traditional wedding. Well, after all this time, that's not even starting to materialize, A) because he filed for bankruptcy, and B) because we're quite poor. But we've been fully committed to each other as husband and wife from the beginning.

Hm.. interesting. Personally I think I would have opted to have the legal stuff taken care of before hand, you can always have a party later. But jmo.

Well good for you :D
A small legal ceremony will be just fine and much less embarassing and expensive lol

Not everyone Chooses to do it legally. I really don't see how a piece of paper and or a fancy ceremony could ever *really* show your love for each other.

Congratulations! This is great!

Exactly. Are pieces of paper keeping the divorce rate down? We're only doing it legally so as to stop confusing traditional people about our status.

Excellent... you're being smart about it, unlike all those couples who go "Bridezilla" with their weddings, and then wonder why they're in a bottomless pit of debt...

Anyway, congratulations. It seems that most Aspie relationships are prone to fail miserably, but I hope this marriage works out for you.

Congrats to that!! !

It's not always about the traditional aspects such as cake, bridal wear, invitations, and so on...although it would be fun. But does cost a lot of money..at least it sounds like you two love eachother for what it's about!
