I fell victim to this a couple of times. It's a sign that none of the people in my neighborhood are good enough, and that I need somebody charming and nice. So why look at Hollywood? Boggles the mind.

First off, you can't really even "see" the celebrity on screen, just a bunch of colored dots that make her up. Second does she know you're here? No matter how hard you try to find her email or fan mail you're not going to get a response from her. She's like an inanimate object; like a rock you can throw around anywhere, but you can't break it. You can try to proclaim your love, and even curse at this celebrity for dating somebody you don't like, but she won't answer. Her fans will though, will odd looks and disgusting remarks, and it'll hurt you more than it will hurt her.

In the end, what are you supposed to do? Therapy or psychology won't help, because it will only make matters worse. So what? Just get over it? That's the coward's way out, because you just want to know more and more about her that you'll give your life just to meet her, and for once, only once.

Mine too. Imagine what would happen if you met your Hollywood crush. What would they say? "Great. Secruity!"

I can't really see my friends and family either, just a bunch of molecules and cells and stuff.

So what could you possibly get out of this?

How so?

I felt that way about some people I'd met over the internet, a few times. But you know what? Once I actually tried to improve my social skills, made an effort to talk to people and have a life of my own, I actually foudn myself in a relationship. And it was one that made me realize how empty my previous infatuations were. What is the payoff in keeping such delusions?

I suppose such crushes do serve a purpose. A way to experience romance with little/no chance of direct rejection. Something one can use to mature until ready to develop one's social skills and enter the dating realm.

Not as good as a real relationship of course. I think, as long as you learn to moderate yourself though, such crushes are harmless - they keep your feelings occupied until you are ready to move on.

Just don't lose control of yourself, and let go when you are ready (e.g. when you find someone you can form a relationship with).

Having met several celebrities, they aren't like the seem on screen in real life, that made it so my crushes on movies stars became more infrequent. Most of them don't even really look like that in real life.

Most people who are in movies or on TV have to put a ton of make-up on to make them look the way that they do. I have a friend who has done a movie or two, and she's pretty, but she was telling me about all the stuff they had to do on set for make-up and all of that. :x

*Just getting over* anything is not a coward's way out..it takes a long time to truly work through feelings and *get over* anything.

It's justified to *fall for* a celebrity. But you are not falling for a person, as you said, just an image. This happens in real life as well, thinking about it.

Even broken hearts can be gotten over. I'm 70% of the way to getting over mine.

I currently have a crush on Julia Stiles. It is normal for me to have a crush on a different person regularly whether famous or not, sometimes with someone at work Though I never tell the person). I guess I'm wierd like that.

That is so true. I believe celeb crushes can somewhat shape what you look for in a future REAL relatioship. In my case, I like Rachel McAdams (the Canadian stunner in my avatar),Jennifer Garner,Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), & Naomi Watts to name a few because a) I prefer natural beauties who don't need a ton of makeup to be stunning and b) they're not getting too caught up in their fame and don't have really selfish attitudes that happens when some get famous. You wonder why I don't like Katie Holmes like I used to 8 years ago. To reference that Outkast song (Roses), I prefer the "real down-to-mars" girls instead of the "Carolines." Paris Hilton is a "Caroline" to me in more ways than one.
