A male friend said to a female friend that he feels right now that too much had happened between you two to have the friendship you used to have but its not your fault, you couldnt help it.

What could this mean? What could he mean by saying that?

Edit: He also said its too soon and that ive nothing to thank him for and didnt want to tell me why or anything like that... Huh?

It means that both of you have grown up and changed ...and in the process of discovering one's self identity, one wants to move
on to other friendships.

He's ready to move on to another relationship. Why, I can't tell you. You probably can't figure it out, because when we have an ASD, lots of things go on that we completely miss.

My advice is just to let this one go.

Maybe he wanted to be more than friends.

What if he changed his mind and said he wanted to keep in contact after all, but then asked me later if I find it wierd being friends again? If its possible that he asked because he finds it wierd being friends, why could that be?
