Wish I had someone to go down the pub with or something tonight, so fed up of spending every night alone at home, socialising via a computer just isnt as fulfilling. Really wish I was one of these people who could go to a pub alone and start conversations with strangers/the barstaff etc. I dont even have any videogames or movies to play or watch. s**t sucks :(.

Right I was Diagnosed when I was 6 but have since out grown most the symptoms, I'm actually a Bartender myself in scotland let me give you some Advice.

As a member of staff I'll say this, Talk to us we love the conversation it passes the time for us and makes us look good infront of our managers as we're seen to be connecting with the customers. But don't do it when we're rushed off out feet, as we feel bad for having to ignore you but also get frustraited that you tried to when we're obviously busy.

As for how I got over my Anxiety of talking to new people. I moved to newbury a year ago and after three months It drove me insane not knowing any one. So one night I just stood at the bar and spoke to who ever was next to me. 8/10 times they'll reply and chat untill they have to go back to their table. Do this untill you feel comfortable talking to new people, Then when you're up for it. Ask to join some one, one of the nights use an excuse like "Here, am new about here mind if I join ye for a drink or two". Seriously in the space of about 4 months I went from an Anxious wreck to some one who can go out alone and end up in house partys with folks I just met.

Admittedly having a Irish accent have helped. But surely it can't make much a difference.

That advice makes me feel better, although I'm still scared to talk to bar staff!

It's our job to talk to people especially if they're regualars unless we're busy, Hell we'll do our best to chat while we work if we're doing glasses and stuff. We're ment to encourage people to come again no one wants to drink in a place with ignorant and rude staff.

Don't get me wrong by us am talking about "Good" Bartenders who actually like the job. Like with everything you'll have your bad eggs.
