consider yourself very fortunate, as canada doesn't just let anybody live up there with canadian folk. they turn away american folks with blemished records and lack of educational credentials.

Lack of educational credentials shouldn't be a problem for me. I just graduated from a Canadian college. :P
sorta after the fact though, isn't it  ?

That kind of depends. I've already been living here for close to three years, first with a visitor status, and then with a student permit. I can get a work permit for the time being, but if I want to continue living here, though (and I do), I will at some point need to apply for permanent resident status, after I've had a year of steady work. Theoretically, Canadian Customs and Immigration could reject me if they saw fit-- although, for the life of me, I can't imagine why they would, considering I've got a Canadian education and will have a year in the Canadian workforce by that time.

ohhhh, i thought you'd meant you were already a legally established resident.
Good luck on getting your permanent status :)

Has anyone come up with an idea to get us all together in
"the real world". It would great to hangout with other aspies...
(or would we drive each other crazy with all our different
idosyncracies?...)...Is it worth a try?...I'm in if you are!
We could write each other online to get to know each
other better and then meet as a group somewhere everyone
can feel safe...Good idea? :) ...Or am I just a dreamer?

I'm in Washington - Olympia specifically for the next 2 years at least, though I just moved down from Seattle and still visit the city frequently.

I would be interested in meeting other PNW aspies....I've never met another aspie (that I know of), I think it would be interesting and maybe even rewarding.

Oh, you'd be surprised at how many of us are around...
I'm sure you've met plenty of Aspies and didn't even realize it!
We can be a colorful lot...
.but often in a rather unique subtle hue

i live in seattle, washington. i have no friends whatsoever and find it impossible to so much as meet people, so i think i'd be willing to make some friends who have the same... problems(?) that i do. maybe it would be easier.

you're doing pretty well from my point-of-view, to be able to function living in a big complicated city like seattle. every time i have been there, i had to stick with my sister like glue just so i wouldn't get lost.
anyways, the loneliest thing is to have a problem that nobody else has, so you can take some cold comfort from the fact that there are others here who also are friend-challenged as well.
welcome to this thing of ours 8)

Not here on WP much any more, but for what it's worth, I'm over in eastern Washington State, commonly called "The Dry Side."

Just thought I'd throw out an ice breaker....
How about:

What's your passion?
or
What are your goals?

I'm a wee bit weird perhaps, I enjoy talking with
animals...Cats and Dogs in particular...
Let's see you follow that one,
my fellow N.W. Aspies  !
