Mutanatia, youare focusing on the wrong issue. In successful social interaction, trying to play the "fair" approach is a sure loser. Throughout the history of mankind being generous and kind has been the long run winner. Too many people miss this. Give to those who ask of you and give generously of your time and talent. You will be surprised at how well this will work for you. Yes! if you give beyond reason, it can backfire as people will wonder what ulterior motives you are pursuing, and if you get extreme in giving of your time, self and wealth you run the risk of impoverishment or exploitation by others. But being reasonably generous in your response to others will cause them reciprocate and make life better for you.
"Fair" means keeping a balance sheet where no one will ever come out ahead. Generosity is a philosophical thing, but it works in the long run even if you get exploited occasionally in the short run by some bastard.
Try it, you'll like it.
