cant he try maybe a non minty toothpaste, or a really soft brush? the kids toothpastes can be fruit flavoured. i know its sorta silly sounding but sometimes i like using that before bed because the minty kind is just too minty and stings my tongue. XD some mint toothpastes are more painful whilst others are pretty delicious.
i dont think it would kill him to just brush his teeth, it's only a total of like, 5 minutes out of a day. and really, bad breath is such an offense, i think he could stand the discomfort. the benefits are worth it, both of having a healthy mouth, and people not being repulsed.

For me, it's the mint. If I could find a decent non mint tooth paste, I'd do it often, however since I can't...

My teeth got really screwed up though because for a lot of my youth, I ate lemons, limes, and other citrus whenever I could.

Tell him no girl would want him if he doesn't ever brush his teeth. Girls don't want men with smelly breaths. They want men who can take care of themselves.

Vicco is a really great non-mint toothpaste from India. Tom's of Maine makes a Cinnamon flavored. Lots of health food stores have non-mint toothpastes.

Maybe if you got him to write a "to do" list for the day and made sure brushing was at the start and at the end, structuring things like that might help him to do it.

I don't know what's in it, I'm assuming its actually toothpaste, but if your having trouble with fruity flavours perhaps dog toothpaste. My pet has chicken tasting toothpaste, i've tried it tastes like chicken, keeps your teeth clean from plaque. Its not minty fresh but it may keep him from gum disease.

Just throwing out a suggestion.

I use 2 methods.

I use Rugrats, SpongeBob, or other
kid's tuthpaste

I also use a really old fashioned method
that my grandfather did, mix salt and
baking soda together and dip the brush
in that.

I use them alternateively sometimes I
forget to brush until the next day when
my own breath reminds me in the morning
and whacks me in the nose going "BRUSH ME!! PLEASE!!"

So I choose a method, and I find that
using a vibrating brush like Sonicare
is the only way to get the yucky stuff
off of my fangs, the non electric cones
just don't duit for me, they do almost
nothing.
