I'm too tall to ride on most (if not all) of the rides so I wouldn't go even if I had people to go with.

No. There are many things you can do alone but going to a place like an amusement park ain't one of them. Even a lone wolf like me would need someone to join the wolf pack.

Well going out alone has it's limits this is one of them, you really need somebody their . :)

Also don't go out to nightclubs/ bars alone and Asian restaurants ! A 2 headed green mutant would draw less attention, European bistros/ cafes are OK 8)

Crikey!!

I go to Vietnamese restaurants alone. I am particularly fond of Pho and Vietnamese sub sandwiches. I see lots of solo diners in the Vietnamese restaurants (and I have been to many).

I also enjoy Chinese food - especially Szehchuan (sp??). There are many places that offer a combo plate for solo diners (so I get some soup, rice and entree for one at a set price). Thai food is also yummy and many Thai places offer lunch specials for the solo diner.

I guess there are just so many 2 headed green mutants in my city that we just blend in...

Maybe it was just being there on my own and seeing everyone else with other people doing things together that reinforced how alone I was. :(

Okey dokey then...

After reading this thread, I took the whole famn damily to our local amusement park. The kids went on the kiddy rides, and I took the time to go on the roller coaster BY MYSELF.

I stood in line with all kinds of couples, friends and families and waited for my favourite seat at the very front. I sat by myself and yelled "YEEEEEEEEEEEE HAAAAAAAA! and "WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" while making a "hang loose" sign and holding my hands over my head. :P

Fun, Fun and Fun.

When my dear husband takes the kids to see their grandparents, leaving me by myself. I think I'll go back to the amusement park and go on all the big rides!! WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!

Anyways, thanks for inspiring me to test the theory that it is indeed perfectly alright to enjoy an amusement park by oneself :P

LOL! :lmao: HELL YEAH! :jocolor:

I LOVE roller coasters and amusement parks! I was just thinking about going to Busch Gardens Williamsburg by myself last week. :flower:

I went today. It was just all right. Better than what I usually do, but not as great as if I had gone with someone.

I think everyone is right to some degree. When you're on the rides by yourself, you can have fun. But in between, you're waiting on line, dodging the crowds, eating your lunch, or trying to strategically plan where to rent a locker. It's the in-between socializing that keeps the mood light, otherwise, these things just become annoyances. I spent about 5 hours, didn't even do that many rides, and I was done.

For the record, you're allowed to go on almost any ride by yourself - the water slides, the tilt a whirl, the roller coasters (although you must pair up). But not the ferris wheel.

I did it when I worked for six flags. It was alright since I go before work and it's was free. Sometimes I go with co-workers. But to go alone, spent $50, and have to ride all day by myself no way! Heck I don't even go to the movies by myself

While at amusement parks, I'm usually on my own. I even have a shirt that says 'single rider' to emphasize this in a humorous way. However, I more often than not spend the morning riding with my dad, who likes rollercoasters as much as I do. By the afternoon and evening though, I will ride alone since my appetite for thrills is younger and harder to quench then my dads. Interestingly enough, whenever I'm at one of these parks, the social anxiety that I feel in my every day life is either greatly reduced or entirely absent. I've often found my self chatting with total strangers while waiting in line, something that is rare in my every day life.
