Dude here is what happen. When you first ask her she got nervous and uncomfortable because normally she doesn't expect someone to ask her that. You are probally the only person to ask her for your number back. She only got mad because you kept insisiting that she gives you your number back after she told you it was weird. I don't think she over react at all. Boy, the questions you asks show that you are clueless. Could you ask your fiancee about social interaction or read up on it

It is not inappropriate, but it does come across as rude. She probably thought you were being mean to her on purpose!
