Few women would be willing to go and drink with a strange man alone in his room. You will simply have to accept the expense of getting to know women in public spaces until they feel comfortable enough to come home with you.

Many other students at your school will likely be as poor as you are. Figure out where they hang out (surely they're not all paying 9 euros for their cups of tea.) Invite girls to go to museums on their free afternoons, or to walk around the book stalls with you--stuff like that.

Yeah but she is a woman who is asking women to come round and have a drink, even to me that is odd that they said no to that.

I'm not a woman.

Oh right... well I presumed you was a woman, ignore my previous advice then XD

Yeah arielhawksquill is right in this one, you can't expect a woman to willingly go to a mans house and drink alcohol with you, that would scare any woman off who don't know you.

As a man, I wouldn't wanna make any fast moves like going to a woman's place so soon after we met, as I would want her to get comfortable with my presence beforehand.

On a lesser note, paying 9 euro(£6-7) for a cup of tea!! !, and people say Starbucks is expensive

Imagine if someone started a thread titled "women are gross and dumb" or "black people are gross and dumb" or "[any-group-other-than-men] are gross and dumb." Even if it were a joke, people would be outraged. They certainly would not be posting a bunch of agreements. Come on men, what's wrong with you? Stand up for yourselves, no one else is gonna.

It's a double-standard just like many other things that women say and do.

It is a generalisation, after all, not all men are gross and dumb. :P

I don't want to turn this into a men versus women thing. I just want men to get the same level of respect that women do. For people to get as upset about man-bashing as they do about woman-bashing.

Honestly, I was more upset by the men that go along with it than by the women.

And not all women are superficial b*****s, all those bitter posts that everyone gets offended by in the "Love and Dating" section are just generalisations, after all.

I want people to be able to freely say what they feel, however much it might offend me personally. I just have the (perhaps naive) hope that if enough men start pointing out the double standards we face, people's attitudes might change.

Maybe females find it odd if you have no male friends? I'm sure there's some males out there that don't drink beer, play Call of Duty 4, and watch UFC. Or you just have to learn to take the good parts of people with the bad. Women aren't generally going to teach you to, say, fix engines, you miss out on a lot of useful skills and stuff.

As for women, you could say men are gross and dumb, and then my generalization on women is that they are generally illogical creatures that only think with their emotions, need people accompanying them everywhere they go, and are entirely incapable of self sufficiency. However, I've met women that have broken this stereotype I have, so obviously my stereotype isn't right all the time.

You probably don't seem "normal" enough to these girls, seriously, imagine the opposite, a girl that only tried to hang around guys for platonic friendship in her 20s? Hey, another thing, maybe the girls might think you're a dumb gross guy, too?

I don't care for most guys at all either. Gross facial hair that isn't mine, overly inflated egos bordering on narcissism, so obsessed with wanting women (I can respect that, but i'm kinda sick of it) or their goals that they don't care to have the time to be friends with you in the first place.

I don't know how to draw the line.

Huge problem for most men and quite possibly for any male/female friendship. If you have someone who's caring, funny, loving, understanding, compassionate and who you have personal interests in common with--why not date them? Thats pretty much all anyone looks for in dating nowadays. If you don't know where to draw the line personally then chances are you may be exuding signs of a sexual interest in these women as opposed to mere friendship.

Also women don't want to be alone with guys they don't trust. Guys are biologically usually physically stronger and a strange environment trapped alone with such an individual is risky and trying to get them intoxicated to boot? It'd be less suspicious if you offered to bring them over and play a game of twister.
