I think that you dont necessarily have to maintain long eye contact, some people are shy and they dont feel comfortable with eye contact. What I do to maintain at least minimal eye contact, is follow a triangle: 1. look at the eyes 2. look down 3. look elsewhere. 4. back at the eyes. I read somewhere that this is actually a normal way of keeping eye contact and thinking at the same time.

thats how i feel too. I think that happens because we are overly focused when we look into someones eyes.

I'm capable of eye contact I guess, but it takes too much of my attention to be able to listen to what they are saying, so most of the time I kind of lead with my ear I think. I like to assume they just think I can't hear well. ha
