I've rarely been told I'm funny. My dog thinks I'm funny.

The only time I'm really ever funny is with my friend, Sarah. But then again, we have the same sense of humor and we always make each other laugh. But anyway, people always tell me I'd make a good lawyer. They even said that when I was in kindergarten!

Never standup, but more as a member of a comedy troupe. I don't like performing though. I have written some plays/skits in the past that were a riot. I have the sense of humour to write the material, but cannot perform it well. I couldn't tell a joke to save my life. I just can't deliver it well at all.

Also had been told I would "make a good lawyer" when I grew up because I "argue so much about details."

Told I should be an actor. Wanted to be when I was younger, but Uni cured me of any delusions about that.

I'm normally extremely good at witty remarks and making up bizarre and crazy but funny comments off the top of my head. A lot of NTs have told me that I'm very funny in a self-deprecating or "older brother" kind of way... I don't know if this is different from the "funny uncle"??

(bad attempt at a standup joke omitted since it failed even in internets form)

My format seems to be internets visual humors and attempting to emulate Firesign-Theatre* type audio comedy. That's 'in the style of', not a copy. Okay, maybe deriviative, but doesn't everyone start out that way?

I easily come up with the surreal commentary, but, like the other day when a friend, who's a co-conspirator on the Firesign / Monty-Pythonish project, held up a tape recorder for some spontaneity speaking, , I just froze. Nope, that won't make Comedy Central anytime soon. I can record things on my own, sometimes even write it down in advance. I tend to prefer hearing my own voice ramped up or filtered into cartoonish type speech. Or radio-ish.

I'm more into parodies.. but often I forget context, and references so obscure it makes Dennis Miller seem like the jester for Louis the 4th during a lunar eclipse of Saturns's fifth moon. Wait, I have that backwards. Oh well.

*Not heard Firesign Theatre? Go to NPR.org and look for them.

I can only be funny when I do not try to be.

The essence of humour seems to be such..

I can crack people up, but usually when I'm trying to point out something I find "odd" or a slip of a thought or something. When I make plans to, I think the joke comes out as "too thought out" and they have to absorb for a minute or two before getting it, which takes away the humour.

No, I haven't been told that before. I have the average person's sense of humor, but not way overboard.

I'm better at off-the-cuff remarks. If I try to rehearse a joke too much in my head, it usually comes out completely mangled and loses a lot of its impact. Which is never fun.

Bearing that in mind, I've never been told I'd make a good stand-up comedian. I have, however, been told I'd be a good housemate on Big Brother.

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry about that...

One woman I worked with said I should be on the stage, I could'nt really grasp why I would be good at it. My nerves would explode.
